Nice Week over Week decline in Cases (21%) and Deaths (10.7%).

Testing also declined Week over Week in volume but the great news is that the positivity rate showed a decline of .5% which is a good number for that testing volume.

The PTICases metric has now declined for 4 days in a row.

Good stuff.

Interesting, ncov2019.live says Texas reported 4,211 cases and 42 deaths today. Sigh, different sources, different data, we'll have to see if this source for this tracking plays catch up tomorrow.

Full disclosure: that site also has the US with more cases and deaths in total than Covid Tracking Project.

I've crunched the numbers and we will achieve herd immunity by March.

Which is before a vaccine will be made available.

Is that nationwide or a locality? And what HIT / mortality rate combination are you using?

WOM only shows no numbers from CT, KS and RI. All the others states have reported numbers. And the death total is lower than your site. Frustrating that there is no consistency still in reporting data.

Texas may have reported the numbers after CTP closed their "day" at 4 p.m.

If this exercise has done nothing else, it should really open some eyes to how POORLY data is gathered, managed, and reported. C19 has had probably the biggest spotlight possible on it for 6 months now, and the actual data collection processes and reporting are still all over the place.

And like other datasets that are used to push a control agenda (*cough* AGW *cough*), they are this way on purpose (at least to some degree), unfortunately. Makes apples-to-apples comparisons almost impossible, therefore allowing the agenda to be nudged by non-factual concerns/priorities (meaning emotional ones).

Florida will be the classic example of no testing, no cases. Numbers will look better with reduced Hurricane testing.

And in the absence of reliable data one's information is no more credible than the next guy's and that is THE scary part

Either the data is really incomplete today, or we're on the back side of the peak. The death drop today is pretty dramatic over last week, and it looks like the positivity rate stayed down again (~6.8%).

7-day average growth rate of new cases

Testing volume has definitely declined; however, the positivity rate continues to fall. These two factors gave us 49K new cases today which is a 10% decline from last week and 17% below the 7 day average. Looking at the case curve the falloff in case numbers is dramatic.

Deaths were just 519 today, which does represent a 21% increase over last Monday; however, it is 50% below the 7 day average, so that is good.

Mortality continues to fall and is at 3.15% now.

The following states recorded no deaths today: CO, DC, DE, HI, ID, ND, NE, PA, SD, VA, VT & WV. All states reported new cases today.

Looking at the PTI_Cases index vs the 7 day average of new cases, we can see that the decline in the case index is flattening. Buckeye, if you see this post, I would like to hear your thoughts on continuing to calculate this metric.

Not a lot of negatives in today's numbers. Big week to see if the trends continue, I'm hopeful that the deaths have topped out again but we'll know more in a few days.

Fly, I don't know the answer to your question. I suspect that some states are reporting one way, and others some other way. Given how much inconsistency there is in the data as its been reported, each state may be doing it differently than all the other states

This article explains what I was asking about data lag, but focuses on death reporting. It seems to document and verify what many of us have suspected. Daily death reporting does not tell the whole story, and can easily be misrepresented by an uniformed or disingenuous media.

The daily positive rate being down is real encouraging considering some states are back to not testing everyone. Just people showing symptoms
