The hospitalization is very very sketchy and very incomplete. I have it on the tracker, but it's obviously incomplete.

One thing Missouri has struggled with is getting hospitals to uniformly report to the state every day.

The numbers fluctuate wildly because of it.

Georgia’s hospitalizations have been on a steady improvement track throughout May.

There were 1500 hospitalizations May 1st and 850 on May 30th.

I’m going to estimate 650-750 deaths reported for today.

New Cases up today over yesterday by 755 ~ 3.3% and last week 824 ~ 3.7%; however, testing was up over yesterday by 45K ~ 11.5% and last Sunday by 62K ~ 16.5%. The daily positivity rate was 5.4 vs yesterday 5.8 and last weeks 5.5. Therefore I think it is safe to say today's increase in cases was purely due to an increase in testing volume.

Deaths were at 656 today almost the exact same as last week's 654. Deaths were down from yesterday by 333 ~ 33%

Mortality is falling and is down to 5.52%

Found this on the OT:

quote:

ROME (Reuters) - The new coronavirus is losing its potency and has become much less lethal, a senior Italian doctor said on Sunday.

"In reality, the virus clinically no longer exists in Italy," said Alberto Zangrillo, the head of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in the northern region of Lombardy, which has borne the brunt of Italy's coronavirus contagion.

"The swabs that were performed over the last 10 days showed a viral load in quantitative terms that was absolutely infinitesimal compared to the ones carried out a month or two months ago," he told RAI television.

So, does that mean anything to us here? I asked (more jokingly) if it meant no social distancing and if bars could open. Yeah, I got laughed at.

This is totally random. Talked to our neighbor for the first time in a while. She's an L&D nurse at a fort worth hospital and she said they're now testing all patients delivering babies so they can use less PPE. Right now they running about 14% asymptomatic. Seems to be falling in line with what other people are saying.

Wow — does this mean anything in the way of we’re getting close(er) to herd immunity?

I put together this much less busy daily dashboard. This is is on the "US Daily Dashboard" Tab in the tracker. You can change the horizontal bar charts to show either raw numbers or per capita numbers.

I love the dashboard.

To put our US numbers in some international perspective, the pandemic is really devastating Latin America right now, especially Brazil. Keep in mind this is only official reported cases & the excess death data will take much longer to come from developing countries.
