I added two new data columns and corresponding graphs.
Total Cases Days to double: Takes the total number of cases on a given date and shows how many days it took to double up that number.
Note that the # of days to double has risen from 2 on 3/17 to 4 on 3/22.
Total Deaths Days to double: Takes the total number of Deaths on a given date and shows how many days it took to double up that number.
This is a good indicator of acceleration/deceleration in the numbers.
The increase in days to double for the number of cases is a reliable indicator that the growth rate is slowing. Unfortunately, the days to double for deaths haven't moved off 3 for a while now.

I mean zero disrespect: 1) how long does this take to put together each day 2) is this part of your job 3) if no to #2 do you have a job?
This all boggles my mind and I wouldn't have a clue of how to put it together. I'd love to share it with a certain page on fb but they're so far gone and idiotic over this rather than trying to be reasonable that it's not worth it.

With any spreadsheet it's the initial setup that takes the longest
Can't take THAT long to plug all the data in now that he has it built (assuming he is manually entering the new data)

Thank you for your hard work. It’s the first thing I look at everyday.

Yes, I do have a job, part of my job is designing & managing the forecasting process for our company which has 4 divisions, so I do this kind of work every day. I'm good enough at it, that they've kept me around for 17 years doing it. I am not doing this COVID Tracker for our company; however, I do use some of what I learn doing this at work.
I've always been really good at understanding numerical relationships and analysis. I was a professional programmer for a long time and the analysis of a business problem into component parts and synthesis of a solution is my god-given talent.
As far as what goes into doing this, I've gotten it fairly streamlined, there are three processes I have to do:
1) 1st Update of the Day: I have to go in and extend the tables on the country summary to pull in a new day, I have to update a few formulas on some of the tabs to adjust their averages. This takes me about 10 minutes each morning.
2) Once #1 is done, then I go to the WoM site and record the current numbers for each of the countries I'm tracking. You guys can't see the sheets that this occurs on, they aren't in the workbook you are looking at. Formulas on the sheet you guys see, pull in all the data and update everything. This takes me about 5 minutes to do if I have to do every country. I do this several times a day. Based on the way the numbers come in, I usually only have to update one country. That only takes about 30 seconds...I manually key the number of Cases, Deaths, recoveries, active cases and serious cases, 5 numbers, doesn't take long.
3) When I want to update this thread, I take a screen snippet of the US data table and save it as a jpg on a photo-sharing site. I then edit the first post in the thread to point to this new screenshot. I'll then reply to my first post and duplicate it so it appears chronologically in the thread. This takes me about 5 minutes to do every time I update the thread. If I could figure out how to link a subsection of a google sheet to show what my screen snippet does, then I would be able to skip this part and would only have to do the 1st two processes.
Continued thanks to everyone for the appreciation!

Powerman you are correct, it's the intial design and setup that takes the longest. I love to tinker with it, so I'm always looking at different ways to slice and dice the data. That all goes on behind the scene until I get it figured out then I update the Main sheet to incorporate it.
The new days to double is a good example. I was laying in bed this morning and it occurred to me that I could probably calculate that and it might be useful to help visualize what's happening. So I got up, worked on it for about 30 minutes, realized it was great and added it to the workbook. The primary time sink was adding it into the structure of the workbook so it would update correctly along with the rest of the sheet.

I assume you're doing all of this offline in excel and uploading to docs?
I've never tried to make anything this involved in docs but I assume you could do it in theory

No, it is 100% based in Google Sheets.
I prefer Excel, it's much easier to use; however, Google Sheets has the edge when linking multiple sheets together and not having to worry about directory dependencies if something moves.

New York finally in, we around 8200 without NJ reporting. That will probably push us over 10k for the midday count.
I’m worried FL and Pennsylvania are about to get a little out of control. Those are high midday numbers relative to their total count

Those peeps on the OT in the Louisiana thread -- wish they'd come here BUT they'd likely bring their craziness to it so ...
