Union members break for Trump

Politico
quote:
Joe Biden has pitched himself to voters as a “union man,” a son of Scranton, Pa., who respects the dignity of work and will defend organized labor if he wins the White House.
To rank-and-file members in some unions, especially the building trades, it doesn’t matter. They’re still firmly in Donald Trump’s camp.
Labor leaders have worked for months to sell their members on Biden, hoping to avoid a repeat of 2016 when Donald Trump outperformed among union members and won the White House. But despite a bevy of national union endorsements for Biden and years of what leaders call attacks on organized labor from the Trump administration, local officials in critical battleground states said support for Trump remains solid.

Like what? Making the economy awesome, giving workers plenty of options to seek employment?

Yeah, well, Trump did kind of save their jobs.

Thank god! One political fact that has perplexed me for over a decade, is how the hell rank-and-file, white, union, middle-aged males still vote for deranged, white-people-loathing, America-hating Democrats!

Because the rank and file recognizes that a guy that actually keeps jobs in the US is probably better for them than a guy parroting AOC on the "Green New Deal".

He’s attacking tf out of unions by bringing back millions of union jobs from overseas.

Trump vowed to get their jobs back and he has had some success in doing so. Obama/Biden vowed to send their jobs packing overseas. Biden has openly declared war on coal which is one of the stauchest unions in his home region and he expects them to support him???

My biggest throw downs in politics have been union construction workers (yellow dog democrats) in South Arkansas. Those guys hunt, fish, many served in the Military and they are hard working taxpaying blue collar guys. But they love them some Clintons and Obamas.

The smarter brothers know that importing 3rd world diversity is a union busting tool. They don't like that the Democrats have fallen head over heels for this poisonous lie.

I can understand going for bill in those days but Obama never made any sense.

Labor leaders are dumb. What do they think one intended result of the Chinese tariffs was? Hint: to keep jobs—many union—in America.

Not sure about the current generation. A previous generation did so reflexively because the Dems were good for unions.
My union electrician grandfather voted straight Dem most of his life (and probably in death) but refused to pull the lever for Mondale in 1984 due to Ferraro.
He also didn’t like it when his kids poked the shite out of him by noting that the “rich” the Dems were ranting about meant him.
He was the kind of old Blue Dog Dems who have died off or been chased out of the party.
