A tie is extremely unlikely and it would take exactly 269-269 to do it. It's unlikely but there are viable paths to it happening (Trumps wins NC, Pennsylvania, and Maine2, but loses Arizona and the other battleground states, gives him exactly 269).

Assuming no faithless electors and the electoral college vote doesn't produce a majority winner, the House of Representatives pick the President.

But it's not as simple as a straight up individual vote. Each state's representatives ultimately cast 1 vote for their state. So the reps of each state get together and vote, and the winner gets that state's vote.

Republicans currently have more house members in 26 states, Democrats in 22, with 2 states having equal members.

That could change a little after the election, but it should be advantage Trump in a tie.

Of course it'd probably never make it that far as Civil War 2, electric boogaloo would well be raging by January.

The most likely scenario for a tie would be Arizona and Wisconsin but lose PA and MI.

My guess is we would have a very rich faithless elector vote Biden.

Very strong assumption.

No he doesn't. Each state gets 1 vote. Because Republicans have control of more state delegations, Trump would win.

16 states can't have faithless electors, they are removed on the spot and replaces.

Michigan, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Washington, California, New Mexico, South Carolina, Oklahoma and North Carolina.

Doesn’t take a tie to go this route. Just no one at 270. Never had a tie but have used this process when 3rd party took EC votes and no one got 50% +1 votes

Jefferson & Burr were tied, House had to vote over 30 times.
