U.N. Predicts Disaster if Global Warming Not Checked

UNITED NATIONS (AP) _ A senior U.N. environmental official says entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed...

Coastal flooding and crop failures would create an exodus of ?eco- refugees,' ' threatening political chaos, said Noel Brown, director of the New York office of the U.N. Environment Program, or UNEP.
He said governments have a 10-year window of opportunity to solve the greenhouse effect before it goes beyond human control.
As the warming melts polar icecaps, ocean levels will rise by up to three feet, enough to cover the Maldives and other flat island nations, Brown told The Associated Press in an interview on Wednesday.
But oh, wait a minute this is an AP report from June 29, 1989.

But the last time I checked the flat islands of the Maldives remain a popular tourists destination. Here are some live web cams in the Maldives. See for yourself.
I was really scared for the Maldives when this report initially came out from U.N. climate science officials. I sure wish they wouldn't scare us if they are not very accurate with their predictions. Seems like a very disingenuous and mean thing to do.

The UN is a disaster. What a shite organization.

I predict disaster if we give up national sovereignty in any way to the U.N.

These are the same type of people who back in the 80's were telling us people would be mooring their boats to the Washington Monument by now.

I'm thinking. Give me some time. That's enough. No, I don't have anything.

Maybe it floats like Gaum and as long as it doesnt tip over it can just ride up and down with the rising sea.

Chicken littling is a human condition.
Man has been blaming man for natural disasters since the beginning of time. Floods, fires, famine...you name it the cause is due to the sins of man.
I believe this is an interesting biological, anthropological and psychological phenomenon in the human animal.
Humans have a natural desire to perpetuate the species. That desire originates in every persons DNA. That's the biological part.
To perpetuate the species human need to fix the environment to encourage and protect human procreation...food, shelter and sex. That's the anthropological part.
Once food, shelter and sex are established on the basic level these areas need to be ruled by the people with stronger genetics. These areas are ruled by people that uses greed and fear or pure physical force to place a stake in their domain. In the modern era it's less about physical force and more about greed and fear. Of course greed is the money side. Fear is more of the psychological side. So human paint a picture of dire conditions and instill in their psychic delusions of grandeur that they actually can control nature on a global scale. That's where we are today with climate science.

For only 400 billion US dollars, they can build out a team to study this and propose a solution.

Obviously the nations of the world responded to this early warning because the Malives didn't go under water, nations didn't disappear and sea levels haven't risen 3 feet.
Thank you UN, you saved mankind.
We have been saved!
Time to move on.
