UK Prime Minister Liz Truss resigns after less than 2 months in office
Truss has faced calls to step down after a massive reversal of economic policies
FoxNews
United Kingdom Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned Thursday after less than two months in office amid pressure following a reversal of economic policies that led to economic instability.
Truss made the announcement a day after she defiantly declared that she is "a fighter and not a quitter." Ultimately, however, she said that circumstances have changed.
"Given the situation, I cannot deliver the mandate on which I was elected by the Conservative Party," Truss said. I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to notify him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party."
Truss said that a leadership election will take place "within the next week" and that she will stay on as prime minister "until a successor has been chosen."
Truss' announcement came soon after Home Secretary Suella Braverman resigned via a letter that slammed the prime minister.

Lol yeah she’s apparently been an absolute disaster. The Queen dying like 2 days after meeting her is also kinda funny

I wish some American politicians would resign when they are proven to be completely inept. Like the mayors of most American cities right now.

The UK and Europe are about to be in a world of hurt. Natural gas @ $60+, and they are going to have to decide between operating industry or heating homes.
This will (should?) be a turning point in global perception of fossil fuels in that they are the most practical and reliable form of energy.

If only there were an orange bastard somewhere who might have warned of such events coming to fruition.

I was reading something about her monetary policy where she ran on one thing, did the exact opposite, and then did the thing she ran in and it was all failure.
The Tory party is in worse shape than republicans or democrats and that’s impressive.
Thank God the Labor Party is lead by a legit IRL racist.

The UK needs to hold an early general election. Its probably best for them at this point, even if Labour does win.

I haven't been following Truss in England. What exactly did she do to lose apparently everyone's support?

It's one of those things over time, it would be neat if there are even more ways to get energy supplied, but the mindset of "cancel fossil fuels" before there is a plan or infrastructure for the "green" things is just dumb and unfortunately there will be consequences for those that dove head first.

Well at the very least, it’s foolish to declare war on fossils fuels amid some man made climate bullshite and try to force feed electrical power way too soon.

Rishi Sunak, whose economic proposals were very realistic, which was obviously too much for the Tories.

That’s the guy I’m thinking about. People weren’t happy he didn’t get a shot and they gave it to Truss.
