I have very good friends across the political spectrum...but the west coast leftists I'm friends with have some disturbing hidden rage mixed with a lack of certain morals and seriously weird reason to hate southern Christians which they've never met...

I can corroborate that. There must be something in the water over there. I'm talking about a few long time friends and even a family member, who once you no longer agree with them or even ask a valid question that shows less than 100% agreement with them, it's almost a hate that starts to build.

*with no argumentative tone of voice or accusation in the question and even dropping it altogether once the "vibe" starts to show*
It is, imo, a mental disorder.

Probably just trying to get more viewers for her show.

Exactly! It baffles my mind why anyone would polarize their audience instantly by getting political. Such a dumb thing to do.

hey have the same intense shite on cable and network news.

But social media, especially anonymous comment sections and boards like this lead to a lot of vituperative interactions that would never occur IRL between non-media, everyday people.

Yes, and I would disagree that it is mostly one side doing it...just look at this board.

Dude...that is a function of where you live and/or the industry you work in. In my neck of the woods, in my business, saying you'd vote for Hillary would be the equivalent of showing up to work naked.

What Sarah needs to do is put on a Trump tshirt and walk around in Chicago, San Francisco, LA, Philly, etc...

Then she can do a feel good story about how great the left and the dems treated her. That way we have a fair comparison.

You know... if she survives the experience.

She can’t do it herself since she’s too famous, but yeah get some standup friend no one knows to do it for her show. I don’t know if she herself would be totally opposed to the idea since I find Sarah to be fairly sincere, or at least strive to be such.

Somewhat true, but I feel the hate is more intense and voiced louder by the Progs.

I mean I work mainly in Metairie (a much more conservative city than Nola) and I never heard anyone utter the possibility of them voting for Trump. Yet I heard numerous people denounce him and support Hillary.

I would feel MUCH safer walking around Metairie with a Hilary shirt on, than I would around Nola with a Trump shirt on, and it's not even close.

Sure wear a Hilary shirt in some super rural areas and I'm sure you'd here some ignorant comments, but wearing a Trump shirt, or even mentioning you support him, in one of America's largest cities (NYC, L.A., Chicago, Seattle, etc), I'm sure you'd see twice the amount of vitriol.

Just look what happened when he fricking won. We've never seen anything close to that kind of reaction from a Democratically elected president. It was fricking ridiculous how Progs reacted.

This *should* apply across the board. Some people cannot handle it though and that goes for all sides of the spectrum.

We all have friends on different political spectrums. Anonymity does not represent reality, just as "news" stories have a habit of also. We tend to drum up emotional responses on here for entertainment, the media does it for ratings.

I don’t think that’s harmful as saying all of this guy’s voters are racists and if he wins your basic human rights are gone and he’s going to start a nuclear war. I saw cnn panelists look like they were about to get physical and you have these people fighting in the street

Things are getting crazy and playing nice with people pushing bad ideas while saying the people who think otherwise are evil is not an option

I was about to say trump and Clinton were both equally guilty of running these kinds of campaigns but the truth is it was just hers and she had the entire American and international media parroting her at every turn. Trump by no means was a choir boy but i don’t think I’ve ever seen that kind of campaign run so explicitly.

Dude...that is a function of where you live and/or the industry you work in. In my neck of the woods, in my business, saying you'd vote for Hillary would be the equivalent of showing up to work naked.
its not me, and i can’t say more but in corporate America, being a trump supporter is an absolutely good way to ruin your career. That’s why you had this effect where people weren’t honest that they were voting for trump and it’s because they were afraid to...it’s undeniable. That just isn’t the case with hillary and it’s a reflection of which side is actually using divisive rhetoric. People just flat out wouldn’t and still won’t admit they voted for trump because they’re afraid of what will happen if they do

The scales are tilted when it comes to demonizing the other side it’s just the other side isn’t putting up with it anymore.

My sister started asking my wife why she voted for trump and it was harmless enough but predictably it became “convince me you’re not a bigot” real life is getting like that and i don’t see it as being a symptom of the Internet. It’s a byproduct of what our media puts out there. False realities getting shattered fricks with people which is why we’re in the midst of such public hysteria about RUSSIA and a moral panic regarding sexual harassment.

It's true. We can talk shite and be at each other's throats on here. But IRL would be friendly and cordial.
