I don't post much, and in regards to the whole Charlottesville Incident I am fairly neutral and would attribute blame to both sides.

But the email that I just received from Uber is the kind of stance that is indicative of the problem we have with the current political climate.

quote:

Dear Lsufisherman,

We were horrified by the neo-Nazi demonstration that took place in Charlottesville, which resulted in the loss of life of a young woman as well as two Virginia State Troopers responding to the protest. There is simply no place for this type of bigotry, discrimination, and hate.

As the country braces for more white supremacist demonstrations, we wanted to let you know what we are doing for the Uber community: We will act swiftly and decisively to uphold our Community Guidelines, including our policy against discrimination of any kind—this includes banning people from the app. 24/7 in-app support is available to answer questions and address concerns. You always have the right to end your trip if you feel uncomfortable or disrespected. Now more than ever we must stand together against hatred and violence. Thank you for making our community one that we can all be proud of.

On behalf of all of us at Uber,
Meghan Verena Joyce
Regional General Manager,
US & Canada Cities

To single out the neo-nazis (they do need to be held accountable) while ignoring the antifa (or any other prejudice/violent group i.e. BLM) just goes to show the one sided narrative rather than a desire for true unity and/or peace

The media, politicians, and every person who fails to hold violent/prejudice protesters accountable (regardless of their beliefs and side of the aisle the fall on) do no good, but only continue to drive a wedge down the middle of the country

They can't call out the alt left, because that's who drives for them.

None of these companies give a shite about anything but PR.

They are terrified of the SJW lynch mobs out there so they have to pander to them constantly.

They had the perfect chance to go non political and pick up all the conservatives pissed that Lyft put Valerie Jarrett on their board of directors...all they had to do was not be political.

These are the kinds of strategic blunders women cant help but make in business

Yep. It's easy to be anti-neo nazi. I'm honestly amazed that people have to single out these groups.

I thought their significance was long gone.

Well the Southern Poverty Law Center lists like 900+ hate groups, and since they do seem to be biased, a lot of them are right-wing, and BLM/ANTIFA are not included.

So even using SPLC's biased categorization, Uber only included a few of the many types of hate groups.

Would you have preferred that they went through, identified, listed, banned, then released a statement for all of the 900+ hate groups plus any that aren't included but could be considered hate groups?

How do I find/join a "General Hate" group. That seems to be right up my alley.

I received the same e-mail.

Is ANTIFA part of the "General Hate" grouping?

Is BLM part of the "Black Separatist" grouping?

Yeah, while I despise the Alt-Right, it's disgusting to me how the media at large has ignored the violent thugs that are Antifa. They both need to be destroyed and their violent tactics should not be remotely tolerated. We need to push back against them as a sane society.

Don't call them Alt-Left, because that gives power to the Alt-Right and for both of their movements to go forward. Call them Antifa instead.

Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled Maajid Nawaz a radical Islamophobe, despite being a Muslim. Excuse me if I don't take literally anything they have to say. Bill Maher is suing them as well, so they're clearly just a Leftist organization and not a a liberal one.

Actually you'll need to refer to the Australian equivalent of the SPLC, although I think there is a specific category for anti Crocodile Hunter they you fall under.
