re: Twitter suspends Project Veritas
Why don’t any of you smart folks start something where people truly have freedom of speech, and not freedom to post what they allow??

Downvoted doesn’t want freedom of speech

re: Twitter suspends Project Veritas
I like that PV exposes corruption, okay but

it does bring up a question

do you think it's ok to covertly spy and expose wrong doing?

how is this much different that the FBI getting FISA warrants and spying on civilians to "catch" them in the act?

A journalist can spy without a warrant....a government agency can not...

please unpack this...

A journalist can just pretend to be an employee or friend?

Just asking what you think about his methods...

Are there going to be any conservative sites still operating on social media by election time 2020?

Because the Supreme Court and several lower court rulings have stated that public officials and those that work for them have no expectation of privacy when conducting their duties in public. O'Keefe fairly recently challenged the wiretapping law in Massachusetts and a Federal judge ruled the law was unconstitutional under the First Amendment. There is a vast difference between the public keeping an eye on those that are supposed to serve them and the government spying on citizens. O'Keefe's methods are not the issue you should be concerned with here.

This is legally true.

Ethically, that's another story.

I agree. But I also think this means it’s obvious Twitter isn’t a platform, but a publisher.

Yes. Absolutely.

Um. Because they got a warrant? And this is also a good thing?

Gab put out a Twitter like app, Google banned them from the app store.

Kind of hard to get enough traction to become competitive when the gatekeeper to mobile devices refuses you entry.

Yes, when stupid people are openly admitting to it. Doesn't matter if it's secretly on camera. People are admitting to him what they are doing.

If someone were sitting in front of Trump and he admitted to them that he did something nefarious, I wouldn't find it wrong, because the words came out of his mouth to someone else. Like the Billy Bush grab them by the pussy thing. Trump said it. Kinda hard to be pissed except for the timing of putting it out there.

Building critical mass is impossible.

Twitters utility is its ubiquitousness.

To the best of my knowledge no one has ever been terminated with extreme prejudice by The Washington Post.

There are laws that vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction that dictate how recordings can be used. In Georgia, if memory serves, only one party to the conversation has to be aware of the recording for it to be admissible in court. As long as they're not breaking the law in publishing, and without it involving some huge ethical issue, I'm inclined to be okay with it. Especially with PV typically uncovers some very shady stuff.
