Like him or not, Tucker dropped some truth nukes on green energy elites like Kerry and Booker

“Cory Booker couldn’t fix your ice maker, much less understand your wind farm”
Last night might’ve been one of the best Tucker segments ever. Just flat out truth that no one can deny, I mean, they will, but it won’t be fact based, just hate

Except ALL parts of the Texas grid failed. We should not lie because they do.
“ By some estimates, nearly half of the state’s natural gas production has screeched to a halt due to the extremely low temperatures, while freezing components at natural gas-fired power plants have forced some operators to shut down.”
Both wind and gas sources would have been fine if properly winterized.

I don't want the power suppliers in Texas to charge me for them wasting money winterizing their power generation and supply lines for an event that likely will not happen again in any of our lifetimes.
Also, a lot of plants are offline for scheduled maintenance as this is the "light" demand season.
While we are being honest we should just say there was a combination of events:
1) federal over regulation
2) plants offline for maintenance
3) freezing gas lines
and the biggest
4) once in a century cold snap.

5) and some power companies refusing to pay the spot price for nat gas ...thus having a "few" plants run out and shut down. But it sounds better when they tell the public we had icing issues and instrumentation issues...

How does one properly, and cost-effectively, winterize a wind farm?

Educate me on the process of winterizing giant wind turbines. Wouldn’t that require the use of sealants/lubricants made from fossil fuels?

As I understand it, unless you have a deicing system installed on each turbine, you cannot prevent the icing on the blades from forming in storms like this. I don't know of the practicality of installing one of these systems but the cost would be prohibitive and you would throw that shite for miles.

You seem to have a grasp of the situation.
Explain how you winterize a wind turbine for us ignorant folks.
What would be the cost?

According to the data insurance companies use to calculate potential risk of property loss Texas has had 16 ice storms of similar magnitude over the last 50 years. I know lived through three of them.

Norway literally has off shore wind farms. The technology exists. It was a business decision to not prepare.

I would hope so.

Well, in theory there could be a huge colony on the Moon. I mean the tech has been there for 50 years, it comes down to costs.
Wind/solar generally on scale don't solve anything and produce more problems than they could ever fix and that is ignoring the obvious huge negative costs associated with it.
Nothing wrong with wind/solar, but there is a problem with over selling something that clearly can't help at scale.

You guys help make the point for a green Energy by mentioning all the uses for petroleum. Sealants, plastics, etc...Just because you reduce combustible emissions in engines doesn’t take away the hundreds of uses for petroleum. Fossil fuels have multiple uses. The industry isn’t going anywhere.

Last night was one of the reasons I haven't give up on Tucker just yet. He disappointed me for some time, but without Sidney Powell actually providing anything, he seems to be justified back then, at least to a degree.

Does it get hot there too?
As pointed out above, prepping turbines for one set of weather isn’t nearly the problem of prepping them for two polar extremes like 0F ice storms and 100F+ heatwaves within a few months of each other.
