Trump supporter. The lefts hysteria and obsession over Russian meddling in our last pres. election or attempt thereof is understandable. Bipartisanship, politics as usual, I get that. To say Russia or the United States or other countries don't try to influence foreign elections is just frankly naive.

The conversation shifted to putting other nations we consider a "threat" in order. Tucker told this d-bag Boot that the fact he thinks Russia is in the top five of foreign threats is ludicrous. C'mon, man. Top 3 in my book! Am I missing something?

It's just Max Boot's Neocon orthodoxy shining through. He believes in the old Globalist arrangements as if they are written in stone and to question them is heretical. Thus we must always be at eternal conflict with these guys and at peace with these guys. How has that worked out since 2001 for America?

Honestly the hypocrisy and arrogance of the neocon worldview is sickening.

Boot said the current Russian state and the Soviet Union are on par because Putin was a former KGB agent.

That interview was some of the most pissed off, hardcore neocon rhetorical bullshite I've heard in awhile. These guys really behave like leftists when you start questioning their bullshite beliefs.

Yeah . I was blown away by how simplistic and shrill he was . I think Tucker called him " a self- proclaimed genius" and that flooded him with adrenaline and he was in fight or flight. Because he really unraveled and lost point after point. He was very Prog like and did not help his cause.

Neocon or whatever he is he came off sounding like a loony lib. You tend to lose me when you drone on about "Muh Russians."

My question is it not the consensus of this board that Russia is most definately a top 5 threat if not top 3? I mean, jeebus, I certainly don't believe much has changed regarding animosity levels since the Cold War simply because the USSR is no more. Simply tolerance. Tucker was wrong there.

I do. Putin is who we know he is. But that doesn't mean we have to stay in some stupid box in Syria and elsewhere because Max Boot says so. Tucker was arguing America first and Boot was arguing Neocon Theology. These Deep State operatives HATE Trump for even daring to challenge if all these rigid Globalist assumptions are good for America.

I pretty much tuned out when Boot started getting worked up.

Just like the leftists that Tucker interviews, Boot became ornery and yammered over every question.

It is an evil ideology. Sending our soldiers overseas to either die or come home screwed up in the head, all to protect American interests abroad or spread democracy, is as morally bankrupt a philosphy as there is.

One of the earliest neocons was Irving Kristol, Bill Kristol's father. He was a Trotskyist in his college days at CCNY, along with other future neocons. The "permanent revolution" aspect of Trotsky's philosophy seems to have carried over to neoconservatism, as there's is one of perpetual war to spread democracy and American ideology, even where it was not wanted.

So this so-called "conservative" is now running with the "Russians are meddling in our elections" flag?

It's also a highly idealistic ideology that truly, sincerely, honestly sees itself as the last great hope to save mankind from itself . That's what makes it so dangerous. It is the Lingering Utopianism of The Globalist Right , the belief that they can reform Man through getting the next conflict, the next war, just right. America First is their kryptonite. That's why the have always hated Buchanan and why they hate Trump.

Ya see, in Max Boot's mind he is successful. He is not measuring the outcomes of wars as failure or success. His standard of success is whether or not we get into these wars and how long we stay in them. The more the better. The longer the better.

Right now Max Boot thinks Syria is a complete failure because we are not in full blown war there. He wants many wars around the world. He doesn't want to take over countries and make them part of the U.S. however he wants to topple countries over long extended wars and as the war comes to an end insert his puppets as agents of the U.S. The train of thought is not completely Hitlerian but it is close in terms of controlling the globe.

What if I told you Max Boot sincerely believes that the People of the Middle East crave human freedom, religious pluralism and Democracy? Because , as astounding as that sounds, I assure you he is still inexplicably of that pre -2003 Neoconservative mindset.

Look - I actually believed that any human being would desire those concepts if given a chance to enjoy their benefits for some period of time.

Now I think that it would take a full generation or two of total immersion in 'western civilization' ideals for it to take hold. And I know of no way to accomplish that.

It is a real problem for me to consider - I know it would be better for mankind to depose the current Islamist mindset by force and replace it with a modern civilization, but the cost would be inexorably high.

Leaving the cancer to spread is just as bad for the long term. And probably result in many more deaths in the end.

Just what is the solution?

hope for the best?

The only way I know that it has to occur through internal revolution with a desire for liberty. The difference between us and probably all nations is that we do not believe that when you are born you are a subject of the state. It started with the American Revolution. It was refined though the American Civil War. It got tweaked though the Civil Rights Movement and MLK. The road to freedom is long, bloody and you never really get there. The path to freedom is an asymptote. You just have to continue to fight to stay as close to that goal as possible.
