"The F-35 program and cost is out of control. Billions of dollars can and will be saved on military (and other) purchases after January 20th."

I know the F-35 program has been discussed in depth on here, maybe they will scrap this program.

They should just divert those funds into updated F-22 production and double the current fleet.

1 F-22 Raptor is worth about 10 of ChinaRussia's most capable fighter.

Good on Trump.

The F35 (and LCS Program) are everything that's broken as frick with our DoD procurement process.

It may be too far along to scrap the whole program, but getting someone in there to clean up the mess is certainly doable.

Yep.

I'm far from an expert on the subject, but from what I understand the F-35 is a case of trying to make one aircraft that does everything, yet the compromises involved mean it ends up not really doing anything particularly well. IMO we'd be better off with the F22 as our air superiority platform then whatever else behind it in support rolls for ATG stuff.

Again...total armchair QB here, but to me that makes the most sense.

Oh god the cLittoral Combat Ship, or as I call it USS Man In The Boat.

Didn't they just soften the rest parameters on it because they figured the bigger blast would tear it apart? And it nearly failed anyway?

What's wrong with that for a multi purpose platform?

It won't happen but if they did scrap it, we would need to figure out how to take some of the 35s capabilities and incorporate them into to 22s platform.

I think they're in too deep to scrap it. Just salvage what you can.

The 22 isn't meant for CAS.

It's called Multirole and it can be done. This one just got beyond frickered up and their fix was to throw billions of dollars at it.

Hell it can still probably do it better than the piece of shite that is the F35. At least its avionics work correctly.
