It is absolutely the right thing to do. It prevents you from getting in a perjury trap.

N-E-V-E-R talk to them. EVER. Not a word. All they will do is try to get you on a process crime you cannot help yourself by talking.

Is this a criminal action, civil action, or both?

This could screw him in any civil proceeding.

They dropped the criminal case weeks ago because they had nothing

Former President Donald Trump is expected to be deposed by lawyers from New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office Wednesday in its probe into the Trump Organization’s business practices, a lawyer for Trump confirmed to NBC News.

It is unclear whether Trump’s deposition will be in person or over video conference.

James’ office is considering whether to file a civil suit against Trump and his company and has said in court filings that it has “uncovered substantial evidence establishing numerous misrepresentations in Mr. Trump’s financial statements provided to banks, insurers, and the Internal Revenue Service.”

These statements were inflated by hundreds of millions of dollars and signed off on by the former president, James has alleged.

He needs to say :" In the tradition of Hillary Clinton and numerous Democrats before me, I assert my 5th Amendment Rights."

Say it that way, each and every time so the Media doesn't get a soundbyte.

Good. And call them out as dirty and tell them to go to hell. And promise to bring it to them when he’s back in.

While I see your point, I don't think it's a good idea for him to liken him to any Clinton or democrat for ANY reason.

This isn’t how a functional, by the people/for the people government operates.
More unelected bureaucrats who’ve lost their damn minds.

quote:

Trump has denied any wrongdoing and has said the investigation is politically motivated and a "witch hunt."

Trump's office, in a Wednesday morning press release, shared a video on Rumble that said: "Abusing the attorney general’s office to attack President Trump."

The video shows James with a supporter saying: "Please sue him for us,: and James responding: "Oh we’re going to definitely sue him. We’re going to be a real pain in the a—."

The video shows another clip of James saying she "will never be afraid to challenge this illegitimate president."

"We need to focus on Donald Trump," James says in another clip. "We need to follow his money."

The video ends with another clip of James during her campaign saying: "This illegitimate president—I look forward to going into the office of the attorney general every day, suing him, and then going home."

That's what I figured. If NY is like most jurisdictions, pleading 5A in civil leads to a negative inference

Seems rather problematic when the "civil litigation" is more quasi-criminal than anything AND State lead.

I would answer the following to each question, even when they ask me to say my name:

"I am sorry, I cannot recall with 100% clarity that information. I certainly do not want to mislead this investigation so at this time I cannot answer".

Over and over until the end of time.

frick that. Trump just need to hold up a sign saying "5th".

Point to it every time a question is asked. NY has gone off the deep end, and no one is probably more appalled by it than the Trump family.
