Not clear that he has authority to do that by EO.

It actually isn’t hard to get 100%P&T. You just have to have your stuff add up enough. You can always go for increases. What most don’t understand is P&T doesn’t mean you can’t work or anything. It just means that your disabilities add up to the 100% level and they won’t get better. You can have PTSD at 70%(very easy to get and not be fricked up), sleep apnea at 50%, migraines at 50%, GERD at 30%, and tinnitus at 10%. This will get you to 100% and after a few years you can get it as P&T. Plenty of people like this and they work full time jobs.

Forgiveness for every disabled person is available through Nelnet.

Why sign an EO for something that already exist?

frick that.

Veterans already get plenty of free shite. It has to stop somewhere.

Yeah, there are countless charities that work with wounded vets for these reasons. All this does is incentivize vets to file claims for disabilities. It doesn't help that we're now telling every vet (and civilian) that they have symptoms of PTSD.

Don't they already get free college through the GI bill?

The GI Bill doesn't cover everything. You can use it and still have college debt.

Or get fricked over by state govts who are responsible for half the money and send you a letter stating "sorry, we are broke."

Appreciate the thought. Progressive concept to blow off paying your debt but to a patriotic group of people. But the government and system are too incompetent and corrupt to properly implement the program.
The problem is Fraud. There will be hundreds of thousands of status changes by non-veterans that have a college loan. The fraud will explode on this one as bad as the illegal aliens getting massive public benefits.
Watch for the future reports that illegal alien students lied on the government documents and had student loans cancelled due to their recent status as a disabled Veteran.

when does the lawsuit drop by some liberal arts, lesbian dance therapy major because its student loans arent forgiven.

Also it will be funny to see NY or California try to collect state taxes on the benefit.

This EO doesn’t amount to much except babying and pandering. P&T vets could apply to have student loan debt waived already. They would pay tax on waived debt as income, however.

Was wondering this myself... federal student loans are already forgiven for anyone who is ruled to be “totally and permanently disabled.”

Does this mean the next president could use EO to eliminate ALL federal debt?

Now the fun part comes in determining who is actually disabled. Does PTSD count? Broken leg? etc etc.

My problem with PTSD is the expansion on watering down of the condition

In WW1 the term and condition was shell shocked
In WW2 the term was battle fatigue
Now it is post traumatic stress disorder

Each step of the way a real condition has changed to include at least an order of magnitude more people while reducing the the perceived symptoms
