Nah, if youre producing robust tariff revenue it means people are still willing to pay more for imported products

Or the foreign countries are baking the tarrifs into their cogs. Or some combo of those 2.

Why do you speak as if every industry on earth is a monolith that moves as one? Can you at least think in more than one dimension when discussing these complex topics? Is nuance not possible for you?

Those foreign countries arent paying tariffs.

People/companies are.

So tariffs are revenue, not an impetus to return mfg.

That is such a bitchmade whine.

It's both. Obviously. You guys always try to divide. Binary everything because nuance is much too dangerous. Somebody might commit "Thinking".

No, its called 'rationality"

Y'all are simply rehashing the Democrats former union payoff to justify income redistribution.

Rationality says those are two separate subjects and they can both be true. Which you know. You state it because you're trying to score points by dividing.

They are not.

Suppose your revenue collection is successful on the tariff issue. In that case, you have zero incentive to return mfg because people are still buying the foreign product even at a higher price point.

They are tradeoffs, not complementary.

So one cannot be true if the other is.

That's your argument.

That's asinine. And it's deliberate.

Generally, yes. The returned jobs would cost millions each in lost economic value.

Like Trumps washing machine tariff debacle.

So now you do nuance...

You know, when you have to have a semantics argument, you don't have a winning position.

"Generally" isnt nuance.

Its simply income redistribution. I dont see how y'all cannot understand this.

Please note, Trump is saying "income taxes". Not payroll taxes. Not capital gains taxes. Not potentially carried interest taxes. Not excise taxes. Not corporate taxes.

There are a shite ton of taxes in the federal government tax basket. Trump is only talking about supplanting income taxes with tariffs.

The U.S. federal government collects around $2.1 trillion annually in income taxes derived strictly from earned (wage, salary, etc.) income when excluding capital gains.

Tarrifs cant make up for income tax. Major cuts have to happen and we all know, thye wont.

quote:

The U.S. government collected over $29 billion in tariff revenue in July 2025, a significant jump compared to previous years, and projections suggest that permanent tariffs could generate an additional $2 to $3 trillion in revenue over the next decade.

Good Luck!

So far tariffs are going to: curb imports, pay down the debt, be “refunded” back to tax payers, replace income taxes, and a few more I’ve probably forgotten. The each $1 in tariff has been “considered” to be spent about 6 times on 6 different things by this administration.

It’s entertaining watching yall fall for high school class president “promises”.

What's really entertaining is watching you people cry in complete impotence about everything the man does.

You'll get used to it.
