I know Martha Roby made a mistake to a lot of y'all and the President included for dropping Trump after the hollywood access tape but since then, she has been very loyal to the Trump administration and has voted against them like less than 5 times, no actually 2 times. She votes with Trump 97% of the time.

She's a reasonable conservative who walks the walk. She deserves reelection.

Her opponent in Bobby Bright is the same guy who Roby beat for the seat. Bright is a former democrat and actually voted for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker back in 2009. Do we really want to trust someone who thought voting for Pelosi was a good idea?

Martha Roby is the common sense choice here as someone who's been very loyal to the Trump administration and as a good candidate against someone who voted for Nancy Pelosi to be third in line to the Presidency.

6/22 Update: Well looks like the President agrees with me and he did the sensible and right thing to do to keep a solid ally and reliable vote in his corner.

I went to school with Martha Roby (then Dubina). I had classes with Martha. I spent a lot of time with Martha. I clerked for Martha’s Dad.

Martha is a good person.

Bright ran Democrat because the Repulican party had already picked their man, so to speak, Jay Love. All of their endorsements went to Love So Bright switched parties and ran Democrat. And he beat Love, in a Republican state like Alabama. That should say something. He was one of the last Blue Dog Democrats in Washington before his departure.

He voted against Obamacare, which to me carries more weight than the Pelosi deal.

As far as him voting for Pelosi, it was his first year in Congress and he didn't want to make waves by not voting for her. In order to serve his constituents, he needed to get placed into committees that he could make an impact towards his voters. He would get blackballed in that sense if he went against the grain and voted No for Pelosi. I mean, no one on this board could've guessed she was as wacko as she has turned out to be in 2007.

I'm not a huge Bright fan, I just don't like Roby so I did some digging. I believe Roby is to on the fence with Trump and will put a knife in his back again if she feels the time is right.

No self respecting conservative will conflate one more than the other.

Both of them are equally bad and just as toxic as the other and Bright is on record supporting one of them.

Who do you trust more?

Someone who has voted in line with Trump 97% of the time according to this? LINK

Or a former democrat who actually voted for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker?

It should not even be a debate here.

She was a lukewarm Never Trumper at best during the campaign and she most currently is not one according to this. LINK

She's a very good Congresswoman and it would be a damn shame to throw her out over her being legitimately upset as a woman over the hollywood access tape.

This is literally your only argument. Which is why Roby will lose and have to pack her bags.

Nope.

Bright also voted 70% with democrats when he was in Congress after supporting pelosi for speaker.

You're insane and politically stupid if you think that's an upgrade over someone who's voted 97% of the time with Trump.

Not if the President has anything to say about that.

If Roby was voting with the Democrats/against Trump 51% of the time, you’d have an argument to primary her. What’s the argument for primarying someone who’s voting with your agenda 97% of the time that the President has endorsed?

She went WAY over the top about the tape bullshite. She at least will return an email as well.

She's WAAAAAAYYYYY better than Bright. Montgomery may never recover from his Administration.

Some of these people are too far gone in these loyalty tests that it's completely unhealthy and creepy.

It's like they they think every Trump skeptic is just like John McCain and Jeff Flake and that's just absolutely false.

Thankfully the President has more good sense than his most rabid supporters and knows a good ally and reliable vote when he sees one and wants to keep her.

The tape was ridiculous. It’s tough to go “way over the top” on a candidate saying to “grab women by the pussy.” Maybe you DGAF because you have no morals. That’s certainly your prerogative. But pushing away principled people from a cause because they aren’t kissing the arse of Trump’s cult of personality is a dumb political move.

Martha is a good person.
I know her and her family, too. She is a good person.

At this point, that puts her in about the 99th percentile for congress.

Bright is a decent guy, too. Neither are Rhodes scholars.

Wtf are you babbling about? Montgomery finally has a spark of life that began with Bright bringing in the Biscuits and beginning the downtown makeover.

I could care less about the "I won't vote for Trump statement", even though it shows that she is nothing more than weak at best...

However, I would be interested in someone listing what exactly Martha has done in office... She claimed she was going to fix the VA but that has obviously proven too tough for her....

This is a serious question from an undecided at this point...
