Trump Says He Would Block AT&T-Time Warner Deal

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said he wouldn’t approve a proposed merger between AT&T Inc. T and Time Warner citing his opposition of further consolidation in the media industry.
“AT&T is buying Time Warner, and thus CNN, a deal we will not approve in my administration because it’s too much concentration of power in the hands of too few,” he said at a rally in Gettysburg, Pa., on Saturday. Mr. Trump said the deal is “an example of the power structure I am fighting.”
Mr. Trump also said he never would have approved Comcast Corp.’s 2011 acquisition of NBCUniversal, which similarly combined content and distribution companies.
Comcast’s “purchase of NBC concentrates far too much power in one massive entity that is trying to tell the voters what to think and what to do,“ he said. ”Deals like this destroy democracy. And we’ll look at breaking that deal up and other deals like that. This should never ever have been approved in the first place.”

quote:We know he said these comments. I believe they are argued during case. Am I missing the purpose, because it seems like you're trying to make it seem like he said those after the decision. Or you're making fun of him for not making it happen. Or you didn't read the date and legitimately thought he just made them.

AT&T many times stated to the Judge that Trump wanted to bash CNN. There was even a hearing on the matter.
Judge said it was the first time a campaign pledge on antitrust law as argued in court in a formal hearing.

I can’t even imagine the amount of praise ol Barry would have gotten for those exact words.
Those same people will call Trump a fascist for this.

I'm sorry. I don't understand the point of posting an article from 2016. Are you dumb for not knowing the date or are you dumb because you are trying to say Trump didn't fulfill a campaign promise?

Bad Trump
Instead he should work to remove barriers to entry into the media and telecommunications markets so that competitors can thrive.

So...
Trump's DOJ opposes the merger.
Parties go to court.
Court allows merger.
How is this a "gotcha" to Trump?

Trump says merger is bad. Trump wins. Trump's DOJ fails to stop it. Trump says nothing on his inability to back it up. Trump does nothing to break up other mega companies that exploit consumers.
