Keep repeating that a tariff is a tax. You're clearly proud to know the one thing everyone else knows, and also apparently proud to not understand the other thing that everyone else knows.

so let me see if i can restate what you're saying here. you've said that an import tax is not a tax because you don't have to import. an income tax, however, is a tax, even though you don't have to earn taxable income.
