Some policy NEWS from inside the GOP lunch - Trump expressed opposition to the $600/week unemployment benefit boost once it expires in July, per three sources. House Ds want to extend through January 2021

Agree with trump on this one. Can't have an economic recovery when so many people are incentivized to sit on their poopchutes making more than they were employed.

The only reason for them to propose extending it is to play politics and to pit some of them voters against Trump who want to keep riding that gravy train.

Constituents will not hold their power hungry mayors and governors accountable as long as the gravy train is going

Do not agree - and I consider myself conservative and a Trump supporter. The people getting hurt worse than anyone are those that lost their jobs in spite of the PPE Gov't payments paid to employers. Those lucky few kept their jobs and their employers got a "freebie" - our business was one of those who got the PPE money. Those who were laid off did not.

The newly unemployed will have a very difficult time finding new work in this economy and $2400/month barely pays for rent and utilities - maybe a few groceries. So, where is the safety net when umpteen people are without work in a crippled economy?

Agree.

Extend it possibly two more months, but anything longer than that is absurd.

We have no clue how long this will go. Jumping the gun and extending a full year is ridiculous. Democrats really do want people on full reliance of the government.

I think there needs to be a middle ground. If they go to 0 here in Louisiana it’s only $247 week. That’s not even minimum wage

End of September sounds appropriate. Most industries should be up and running at ~75% capacity by that time.

Good. Folks need to get back to work and shouldn't make more in UE that they do in wages/salary. My friend's company has had laid-off/furloughed employees ask management if they will match their unemployment payments when they return to work, and whine when they're told "no."

I worked until april 30th then got laid off. Havent seen a dime of any assistance yet due to texas dragging its feet. I dont NEED the extra 600. But its bullshite that people like me wont see a dime as my industry wont come back right away. I may have found a new home if the industry stays status quo but others may not.

May have to start voting Democrat if 10 people downvote this.

Edit: thanks Christians of the poliboard. I will now cancel out 1 maga vote in spite

because of that stipend, people are wanting to be laid off, or refusing to come back to work. I've talked to several eateries, their workers who were laid off have no interest, while that cash is available, of coming back.

It's supposed to just help, not prop you up to stay make it easy for people to stay at home. That's what this is doing. Right now you have folks you quit their jobs to go collect the check because the unemployment paid them more than they were making. That is completely asinine for tax payer dollars to support such choices.
