He will also tell you that everything he told us in here happened just the way he predicted.

Do you really believe that? China has run its course for us. They have served their purpose. Our consumer economy has enriched that country to such an extent that they have turned it against us.

SE Asian countries such as “Viet Nam”, as you put it, are ripe for the taking by our economy. They are willing. And they can provide my kids’ generation, and your grandkid’s generation with the cheap labor to provide them with the can openers, televisions, microwaves, clothing, smartphones, appliances, on and on for the next 50 years.

I would love for this to be the case, China bending the knee, but it really doesn’t sound that good. Let em stew for a while longer.

Just think how easily he could of done this with some cooperation from Congress!!

Their cooperation would have put their pocket books in jeopardy. he told them what he was going to do and they created an insurance policy to stop him.

What is this dumbass talking about? Imports from China are down about 7% across the board... pushing 10% in electronics, toys, and other cheap shite.

The tariffs have had a massive impact on China and its economy... they had the slowest quarter of growth in 20 years last quarter... and considering the Chinese make up whatever numbers they want, there's a VERY GOOD chance China is in a recession right now.

It looks like the Chinese will move to end their foolish punishments of Chinese consumers of American farm products and energy products if Trump will roll back some of his foolish punishments of Americans buying Chinese goods.

Ok. Good to see at least one Trumpkins here has abandoned the illusion that this trade war will bring back the low wage jobs. By this admission I suppose you agree that our economy has added hundred of thousands of jobs since we started trading with China again in 1974 and that it is just fallacy that we have suffered from this trade?

Some here say China stole jobs from us as if we have millions out of work or suffering from the loss of Christmas light manufacturing jobs.

The U.S. is hardening its rhetoric against Vietnam, one of its major trading partners and an economy that’s benefiting from President Donald Trump’s trade war with China. You’re a religious zealot. No amount of information or reality will change your Econ 101 view of China. You’re a fraud.

I am hopeful this all works out, but am not holding my breath.
China is known to renege on deals, change the parameters of them, or just down right lie about their intentions. They have little respect for agreements, and will do what benefits them.
I am going to wait and see how things play out before I go to getting all giddy.

I'm all in on Trump and China policies/tariffs etc, but in my industry there was a hit to the consumer & me unfortunately, but due to suppliers fears/over-reactions that increased prices stupidly. It did happen, but now those prices have been dropping like a rock for months, which is only NOW helping me sell more product.

So for a short time the consumer & me did feel a hit, well worth it imo.

The good news is this does seem to be phase 1 and not something short of that.

So US companies will have better protection in China and big US banks will have more access to Chinese markets. China will buy more commodities and American consumers of Chinese made products will get some relief from the punishing tariffs imposed by our big government.
