Trump expected to end his fight to add citizenship question to census

ABC so take it FWIW until official announcement
frick that if true. Meaningless unless in the census.
quote:
President Donald Trump is expected to announce later Thursday he is backing down from his effort to include a citizenship question on the 2020 census, and will instead take executive action that instructs the Commerce Department to survey the American public on the question through other means, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
The expected announcement will bring to a close weeks of escalating confusion within the government over his demands that the controversial question be included despite a Supreme Court order that had blocked the move. The White House declined to comment about what exactly the president plans to announce.
As recently as Thursday morning, administration officials had been repeatedly suggested the president would take executive action calling for the question be added to the census. It was not immediately clear when and why the final decision was made not to move forward with that plan.

“Controversial question”
Y’all. We live in a time where asking if someone is a citizen is controversial

This initiative regularly polls over 60% among general public.
John Roberts was very annoying in his decision.
Non citizens should not be counted for congressional districting
It is extremely unfair for states like Louisiana who have very low rates of non citizens

Can one of the Democrats around here explain to me why it's so important not to include a citizenship question?

Brown shirts will comb through the census and come deport them en mass

Their reasoning goes like this
Non citizens/illegals would be scared to answer a census of a citizenship question is included. This would artificially lower the population of states like ny and ca, which would cause them to potentially lose electoral votes and house seats.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

It does the same for Texas and Florida. It lowers representation and resources for places that would need it.

Lost the battle but it may help win the war in the long run. Speaking about 2020.

The unproven premise being that places need full-scale federal government assistance...

Fuuuuuuck that.
Illegals don’t get representation. Illegals don’t get resources. The only extra resources a place with more illegals needs is more ICE/CBP officers. frick all that other shite.

This is yet another win for Illegal Immigrants. I have lost count at this point. Illegal Immigrants can basically do as they please without any repercussions at this point. Its laughable how our government coddles these cockroaches.

So... if you are say... California, you make your state as inviting as possible to illegals (Non Documented citizens for the dumbass crowd) by giving them all sorts of free stuff, thereby increasing your census count, thereby increasing the number of representatives in congress you have as well as the number of electoral votes you have. That sound about right?

Well your'e just wrong. People who aren't citizens, ie legal residents get resources. Why shouldn't they be counted and encouraged to participate in the census?

I don’t expect trump to backdown on this so easily. The implications of counting illegals in representation data is too big to just roll over and quit because it’s hard. Also the question was asked on every census before Obama.
If we start giving up seats to reward cities and states for taking illegals we can kiss any border security hopes goodbye and also kiss republicans winning future elections goodbye too. No dem will ever vote for a reduction in migrants as long as they can use them to keep more power isolated to democratic cities that are sanctuaries.

from the census website:
quote:
The plan was to count every person living in the newly created United States of America, and to use that count to determine representation in the Congress.
Non citizens can't have representation in congress. I think you can put 2 and 2 together.

You do realize that it was the Trump admin's incompetence in how they presented the case to the Supreme Court that cost them the decision right?
Roberts basically said, you would have won if you hadn't made such a terrible, obviously false rationale.

And because of the increased representation in Congress they get more money to spend to attract more illegals... to get more reps, to get more money, to get more illegals... and on and on and on.
