Trump Declaration Imminent? Jan. 6th Hearings and DeSantis Momentum Weighing On Decision

Trump, 76, could announce his candidacy for the 2024 election as early as this month, The New York Times reported
Sources told the paper that the former president was frustrated at the growing support for Florida governor Ron DeSantis, 43, a potential rival
Trump is also keen to distract from the January 6 committee hearings, the paper reported
Some were encouraging him to wait before announcing his run, noting that it would place restrictions on his use of the $100 million war chest
He is said to be aggrieved by increasing attention and compliments heaped on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Many Republicans believe DeSantis pushes the same policies that made Trump very popular - but without the divisive and unpredictable personality.
Trump has repeatedly teased another run for the White House, even though he'd only be allowed to serve a single term.
But the idea has been given added urgency by the surge in support for DeSantis, the 43-year-old governor of Florida.
Republican donors who have opened their wallets for Trump are now backing DeSantis as he bids to win a second term as governor of Florida , it has emerged.
Powerful GOP supporters hope DeSantis could serve two terms in office to the one Trump will have to make do with, giving him more time to push through his policies.
DeSantis was sometimes described as 'Trump with a brain'.
DeSantis has amassed a campaign war chest of $100 million, setting new records, and leaving him well positioned to turn those funds to 2024.
Trump himself has already amassed a $100 million fund, through his Super PAC.

Trump needs to run in defiance of this circus. The entire point of this “hearing” is to smear him and prevent him from running in the first place. Him sitting out only confirms that the strategy works and will embolden them to continue doing it to other political enemies.

Trump had a pretty rough week last week. Seems like a weird time to announce now, unless he misses choking people and can’t wait any longer.

He had a great week. Just like every week. Note his nonchalant attitude about the current happenings, his obvious lack of give a damn, clearly because, like a great many of us, he knows they’re just playing pretend and will eventually wear themselves out, like children. No problem, mon.

That’s your take is he had a rough week? A fake bias committee doing false testimony & a piled high rulings in the SC . I hope OMB continues having rough weeks like that

I truly do like DeSantis and I believe his time will come ,but I want to see Trump break these motherfrickers.

This I want to see Trump destroy ever federal institution we have in this country - all the three letter agencies - congress - he needs to go scorched earth and burn it all down.

All the article is saying that that Trump is weighing getting out in front of the January 6th narrative and any DeSantis momentum.
Doesn't seem like an unreasonable take.
Don't know why people here are upset? If you support Trump this should be good news.
