Unless you are 3 years old, all you have to do is go back to Obama.
People wrote songs about him for elementary school children to sing.
People would faint at his speeches.
Not only did the man win the Nobel Peace Prize before he did anything, his supporters defended it.
The Obama fan base was as rabid in support of him as Trump’s.
I see it a little differently. Obama's celebrity came primarily from how he made people feel. In the many conversations I've had over the years with Obama fans the most common refrain when I asked what about him was so appealing was that he made them feel good (both white and black supporters). They couldn't point to any specific policy aside from the ACA (and often either blew off issues on it or blamed those issues on Republicans) on which they could pin their positive feelings. Bring up that Obama didn't have much to do with the ACA other than signing it into law and they simply don't care.
It's their perception of who he was and what he represented (as a black man being President) that they loved.
Trump, on the other hand, initially garnered support through his kitchen-table style of oratory, making simple and clear campaign promises, how he would accomplish them, making realistic expectations on what their impacts would be and not being afraid of fighting (to the contrary, he often proactively punches instead of waiting and countering, or doing nothing which is what many GOP'rs often have done). This support has increased as he's followed through on most of them, that their impact has at times been far greater than even he thought it would be and that he still takes fights head-on.
In short, Obama's fan base were loyal more to him for what he represented in their own lives whereas Trumps fan base is loyal more for who he is and what he's accomplished (and accomplishing).

I don't think I have ever posted the word "mercantilism".
I mean. However you want to paraphrase the things you claimed to not like about a Chinese economic practices. But sure. Focus on that instead of the content of the assertion. You’re not a smart person.

Who should take the lead in reducing government subsidies and mandates regarding healthcare?
That's not what you meant.
I think ALL government subsidies should end.
Obamacare should disappear and replaced with NOTHING.
Trump tried to end it , but traitors McCain and Ryan got in the way.

Crafty!
Begin with 2 points that everyone agrees with. Introduce the tariff melt in the middle while you have your audience softened up. Finish with more points that the everyone probably agrees with. Hope that the 4 points that everyone agrees with lends credibility to the sandwiched tariff melt.
I will give you credit for using this tactic. Intelligent people will find a way to re frame their unpopular opinion into a larger narrative and scope that softens it’s presentation. Well done.

if the Senate votes to kick him out I believe this will be the event that could start serious talk about formally splitting the country.

You cant even give a simple answer to how much more average joe pays on daily goods due to tariffs
In 2019, the tariffs cost me over $2 million. That’s punishment. But, I deal with these Chinese frickers without choice due to their manipulation of the markets and currencies that have made the sole suppliers in the world of certain technologies intricate to my business. The Chinese game is to corner the market through cheating and become the sole manufacturing world super power. Once accomplished, they will dominate and manipulate in ways the world has not seen. They have no morals and give no fricks about anything but power and control.
They were well on their way before Trump and despite the mass amount of monies it has personally cost me I support it.

Has anything in “phase 1” helped with the situation you describe?

This is not a tariff thread but anyone that thinks 25% tariffs on American citizens importing steel from anywhere and on goods imported by Americans from China do not cost American consumers is an idiot.
Single variable thinking is never a sign of intelligence. You should avoid it in the future.

Dardenne wants LSU job
Would I walk across the road to hear any politician?
Nothing drives up healthcare cost more than government
Brexit is on the way
Trump signs big government maternity pay bill
Is Kushner the most powerful man in the Trump White House
Pretty sure I downvoted every one of them.

So Trump should quit trying????
Look for a liberal somewhere else. No intelligent person that reads my posts can come to the conclusion I am a liberal. Blind supporters of Trump are MUCH more liberal than I am.

Nothing yet, but I think it is coming. I don't trust the Chinese so any lead way you give them they will take double.

Pin this. This is the most important comment in the whole thread.

You’re a neoliberal convenient idiot if there ever was one. I couldn’t imagine a better example. You’re so desperate to prove you understood your first lecture in Econ 101 you’ve become the most naive moron China could ever dream of.
