1) There is no basis for Trump's impeachment. I don't see it happening but if the Senate votes to kick him out I believe this will be the event that could start serious talk about formally splitting the country. I don't know a personalty in my lifetime that has a following of people that are so devoted and so energized as those that follow Trump. The smaller group that hates him is energized too. (This was apparent at the CFB national championship. The crowd was over the top cheering for Trump. Contrast that with the boos at the Yankees game and you can see the country is really, seriously divided.)

2) This entire aid to other countries for defense is a sham on taxpayers. A good portion of those monies are used to buy weapons from the US MIC. The Ukrainians, for example, intended to buy Javelin anti tank missiles with some of the money we gave them that is at the center of this impeachment. Raytheon makes those missiles. Trump is right to question such aid and we should stop it now.

3) The trade war in China was clearly about US multinationals doing business and investing in China. Trump is right to advocate for those changes in China but he was wrong to punish Americans to accomplish it. Multinational US companies that move aggressively to invest more there now are probably good stock bets--fintech companies, Boeing, large banks (C, BA, GS ect.), consumer brands selling into China, ect.

4) Americans are relatively disinterested in the impeachment process this time. They can't even fill up the Senate gallery for the proceedings. This should be a signal to the government and political class---we are tired of you and your shenanigans.

5) Trump will never accomplish a lot of real changes unless he commits to changing the House. Democrats are not scared of him and are dug in. He needs a muzzle. No politician looks good working with him after he has publicly insulted them. Everything he has ever said about Pelosi is true but he didn't have to say it. We all knew it she was a swamper. Pelosi can't work with him after those insults and save any face with her supporters. He needs an Atwater or even a Rove to organize the republicans to go after more seats in the House while at the same time trying to identify a group of democrats that might be open to work with Trump on some issues.

6) We really need to get back to domestic issues. We need to solve immigration, healthcare and government spending. No one even talks about these issues anymore. Government is far too large and far too powerful.

7) There is no question Obama used the power of the office to help Clinton including using the FBI and CIA. There is no question Biden was bribed. These things are more brazen than ever before. It used to be Presidents simply started a library after they were out of office to collect what amounts to post action bribes. Al Gore is a billionaire today because the Clinton DOJ went after MSFT on anti-trust. Gore got a seat on the BOD of Apple and lots of stock options that made him rich.

China chose to eat the tariffs instead of pass them on to the US consumer because they were afraid if they didn't, US retailers would turn to their competitors.

The National Republican Congressional Committee ( NRCC ) is the Republican Hill committee which works to elect Republicans to the United States House of Representatives.

You lost me at he needs "a Rove". That POS has no belief in right and wrong. He puts politics over principles. It's nice to have a President who has the courage to believe if you do the right thing, the people will follow. Trump is far from perfect, but he is brave enough to react and operate like a normal person.

I don't like Rove but I don't like the Dems in control of the House either.

How do you expect the people to follow??? What is the message? what is the goal?
Why vote for a republican over your democrat incumbent? These are the things voters need to hear and need to be motivated to address.

Well that’s just flat out not true. A large number of studies are constantly being been done...

Impact of 2018 tariffs
quote:

We examine conventional approaches to evaluating the economic impact of protectionist trade policies. We illustrate these conventional approaches by applying them to the tariffs introduced by the Trump administration during 2018. In the wake of this increase in trade protection, the United States experienced substantial increases in the prices of intermediates and final goods, dramatic changes to its supply-chain network, reductions in availability of imported varieties, and the complete pass-through of the tariffs into domestic prices of imported goods. Therefore, the full incidence of the tariffs has fallen on domestic consumers and importers so far, and our estimates imply a reduction in aggregate US real income of $1.4 billion per month by the end of 2018. We see similar patterns for foreign countries that have retaliated with their own tariffs against the United States, which suggests that the trade war has also reduced the real income of these other countries.

Now that might be a cost that we’re willing to bear in order to bring China to heel, but to say that we have no idea of the impact is just wrong. This has been one of the most studied economic questions of the last year.

Your understanding about trade has been found wanting for some time now.
