Drug companies will be required to disclose prices in television ads under a Trump administration final rule announced Wednesday.

Under the new policy, which was announced by Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, drug manufacturers will have to state the list price of a 30-day supply of any drug that is covered through Medicare and Medicaid and costs at least $35 a month.

The new rule is one of the boldest steps the administration has taken in its efforts to bring transparency to the opaque system of drug prices, and puts Trump officials squarely at odds with the drug industry lobby, as well as television and ad industry groups.

President Trump has made lowering drug prices a priority of his administration, and has called for industry behavior to drastically change.

Kind of like this idea. Pricing transparency is a good thing. A someone who has been using a HDHP for years, I am always amazed at how difficult it is to get a straight answer to the simple question of "how much" for anything having to do with a doctor.

Anyone arguing against this is a loon.Thank God somewhere along the line drug companies had to start advertising the bad about their drugs along with the good. This is another step in the right direction.

Boom - I have no problem with drug companies making big profits but there needs to be better pricing transparency for the consumer especially revolving around life saving drugs.

This is Big Government we can support. They are not controlling what companies do or sell, just making it transparent.

This is outstanding news. We don't have a healthcare problem, we have a healthcare/medication PRICE problem.

That's awesome. I want to see any dissenters reasoning for not liking this, outside of the crooked drug companies.

All price and outcome data is out there. The providers don't want it for the most part though.

The last time i looked, the most expensive place in my city did not have the best outcomes in a certain cardiovascular surgical procedure.

See why they don't want you to know.

It's coming though.

I don't know how I feel about this, on the surface it seems legit.

Heart attack
Stroke
Paralysis
Hair loss
Erectile dysfunction

Ask your physician for some today!
