Trump administration will move to block 'birth tourism'

The State Department took the lead on the initiative, though visa protocols are administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services at the Department of Homeland Security, according to Axios, which reported the news on Sunday. The administration has not decided how to go about blocking citizenship to this class of newborns, but it has looked at giving the State Department the ability to deny visitor visas to people on short-term business, as well as tourism visas to women it believes may be trying to give birth in the U.S.
It's not clear if the State Department would attempt to determine if a woman was pregnant or not at the time of submitting a visa application or at the time of travel or how many people would be affected.

Birthright citizenship is one of the most absolutely retarded and harmful policies that we have.

I would support anyone that would overturn that (won’t happen sadly)

How can a baby born to tourists visiting the United States be considered "citizens of the United States?" The 14th Amendment doesn't apply here, and any judge who rules otherwise should be removed from the bench! The same goes for illegal border jumpers.

Look at the one libbie who DV'ed the OP.
Love to see someone try and criticize this move.

As to the OP I just wonder what the policy will be. Some woman with a valid visa gets off the plane, 8 months pregnant. What do they do? Throw her back on the plane? Arrest her and fly her home against her will? Do we only issue visas to women a month or two before travel and only for stays f less than nine months? Do we hire a medical staff for each of our embassies and consulates and administer pregnancy tests before issuing a visa to any female? Do we post a government hall monitor at the departure gate for every flight bound for the US?

Sometimes Textualism works in favor of one’s policy preferences, and sometimes it does not. This is the latter instance.
Unless you want a judge who is willing to ignore the law in order to reach the result that you want. That is a bad path to tread.

But none of that changes the rules of construction. You follow them, or you are a judicial activist just like the Dems ... just one willing to ignore the rules for a different cause.

They're doing pregnancy tests in some cases.

Good. What liberals won’t tell you is that these babies are born with loaded guns in their hands and narcotics to sell on the street.
