The Trump administration Wednesday formalized work requirements for recipients of food stamps, a move that will cause hundreds of thousands of people to lose access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Brandon Lipps, the deputy undersecretary for the USDA’s Food Nutrition and Consumer Services, spent about 18 minutes on a call with reporters outlining the changes to the rule that will take effect April 1.

quote:

“We’re taking action to reform our SNAP program in order to restore the dignity of work to a sizable segment of our population and be respectful of the taxpayers who fund the program,” Perdue said. “Americans are generous people who believe it is their responsibility to help their fellow citizens when they encounter a difficult stretch. That’s the commitment behind SNAP, but, like other welfare programs, it was never intended to be a way of life.”

CNN: Trump attempting to starve 700,000 people to death. Not even 700,000 jews died in camps from starvation, so this makes him worse than Hitler. We will bring on Chaim Goldwitz and Abraham Steinberg, curators of Holocaust Museums in Chicago and New York City, to discuss just how much worse than Hitler Trump is after the break.

How many illegals is this affecting?

Didn't Obama run ads on Hispanic radio telling them what to do?

Fiscally, this does not matter all that much, but in terms of message/optics, it is a very good sign.

The abuse of getting food stamps and getting a job and never getting off stamps is a 700,000 problem. I see the fraud and abuse everyday in my big store. One of my customers was unemployed and drawing a lot of food stamps. He got a new job driving a Fed Ex truck for $35,000 a year and never stopped his food stamps. He eats better than I do. One of my meat cutters was drawing and unemployed. I hired him to cut meat at $15.00 an hour and he still gets stamps. I can give many examples of abuse.

Yep, anyone who owns a business where there is lower level labor employees involved has experienced this.

I had cooks who would max out their hours allowable by the government and then they would call and say "pay me cash or I can't work until next week because I'll lose my gubermint check."

The next week when they came in to work they found out they didn't have to worry about my end of it anymore.

I hear some real horror stories from some of my agriculture processing and distribution friends about what they are dealing with these days and how the illegals have really learned to game the system.

It's hard to justify millions of people on the government dole for generations when there are more jobs than people to fill those jobs. It's one thing to receive government assistance as a supplement but to generationally depend on government subsidies because you don't/won't find employment is unacceptable.

LBJ knew exactly what he was doing when he created our modern welfare state. Buying generational chains to the democratic party.
