As more and more communities recognize October 14th as Indigenous People's Day, the question of how best to celebrate indigenous people arises. A good first step is learning about which tribes resided in your specific part of the country before vicious settler colonialism uprooted them or likely worse.

They lived in perfect peace and harmony, with open boarders and open arms.

Well that was worthless. They just showed the tribes that were winning the intertribal land grab when the white referees showed up!

Exactly the sort of article I’d expect to see in Popular Mechanics. Must liberals politicize every freaking aspect of life?
Posted on 10/14/19 at 7:55 pm to dcbl
What does that have to do with popular mechanics? Have liberals ruined everything

Those drunken savages traded this land for shiny beads and whiskey. It's mine now.

Ignoring the fact a large amount of native Americans were nomadic.

bullshite. They took it from someone who took it from someone who took it from someone.
Tribes fought with each other for centuries before the evil white devil showed up.

Weren't tribes conquering and taking lands of other tribes before those evil colonialists showed up? And God help those tribes that held lands through which the buffalo migrated. That was prime land for other tribes.

I'm on top of a Navaho.
PS - I knew she was a ho. I just didn't know her name was Nava.
(yes, I know I misspelled it).

It's funny that the myth of the noble savage persists when any college freshmen English class requires you to read first hand accounts of natives raiding villages, murdering settlers, abducting women and children, enslaving their captors and so forth. 400 years of warfare is reduced to white man came across the sea, he brought us pain and misery, he killed our tribes he killed our creed, he took our game for his own need. Great song, a little lacking in historical detail and nuance.

When we start paying reparations, do they go ahead of the slaves?

Siberian immigrants.

A woman known as Kolyma1, who lived in northeastern Siberia about 10,000 years ago, shares about two-thirds of her genome with living Native Americans. “It’s the closest we have ever gotten to a Native American ancestor outside the Americas,” Willerslev says.

The plight of the American Indians is one of the best reasons to build the wall!

Amazingly .... most of us recognize the great majority of those tribal names.

That's pretty tight.
Now, can we get a map of the owners of the land THEY stole before we came along?
