I always thought he was compromised big time as a congressman, maybe him leaving Washington means he wont suck as badly as he did when he was in the House

I usually temper my criticism of Gowdy with the possibility that his hands were tied. I didn't do it here and your comment is totally justified. I don't know how much power he had as a Rep; the House has lot of bizarre rules. Do YOU know that he did everything within his power?
When the Dems control the House and they want to make a spectacle, they do a helluva lot more than get on camera for an interview. They have committee hearings, and they brazenly push an agenda. I never saw Gowdy do that.
So maybe criticisms of him are fair, maybe they're not. But it's a fact that little ever came of all of his posturing, and that's unfortunate for all of us.
