HPD officers lied to get warrant used to execute civilians
and the cherry on top
quote:
A confidential informant didn't buy drugs at the southeast Houston home where an investigation turned into a deadly shootout with police last month, according to a new search warrant.
That contradicts information used to get the no-knock search warrant, which said that a confidential informant bought heroin at the house the day before the drug raid. The raid happened on Jan. 28.
quote:
After the shooting, police went to Goines to get the informant's name. The informant told investigators he or she did not recognize the Harding Street home or Tuttle.
Investigators returned to Goines for the names of more informants, who had all worked for Goines in the past. They all denied making a buy for Goines at the home. They also denied ever buying drugs from Nicholas or Tuttle.
and the cherry on top
quote:
The warrant shows that two bags of heroin were found in Goines' city vehicle.

I think I saw that on The Shield once.

Correct me if I am wrong but there is zero reason for a cop to have heroin in his car, correct?
And I think no knock search warrants are not needed, unsafe, and dangerous for everyone.

I hear you, probably handy to have a couple on you when you murder an innocent person. Just throw a bag of heroin out there and they automatically deserved it.

HPD has certainly evolved from sprinkling crack

Power corrupts. News at 11
Seriously, I hate this stuff too, but it’s not going to go away. I don’t focus on it anymore.

i'm more shocked that this information was investigated and is already public
it's very unlikely that murder police are running around with 2 bags of heroin and manufactured CIs as an isolated incident
it's theoretically possible that this may become a big deal

I'm hoping we find out soon, WHY the cop lied (assuming he actually lied and this isn't just some insane level of stupid incompetence).
Why this couple? Why this house?
Why this couple? Why this house?

Nothing will come of this. Police departments will continue to lie and violate civil liberties, prosecutors will continue to support it, judges will continue to ignore it or outright enable it and alleged conservatives who complain about government in every other aspect of life will continue to back the blue and its cadre of jack-booted thugs.

This stinks to high heaven. Sounds like either complete and total incompetence, or something very shady going on with this group of cops.

complete and total incompetence doesn't end with a murder detective having 2 bags of heroin in his car
especially since there is no valid CI to explain where it came from

Any suspected reasons why they went through all this to raid the house?
Posted on 2/15/19 at 6:11 pm to upgrayedd
no but it's a very good question. how do they get this so wrong? why manufacture evidence when clearly it's the wrong house?
Posted on 2/15/19 at 6:13 pm to SlowFlowPro
sounds like we might have a beef settling

Former Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke, serving nearly seven years in prison for the murder of a black teen, was assaulted by fellow inmates soon after he was transferred to a prison in Connecticut this month, according to his wife and attorneys.
Van Dyke, who is white, was convicted in October of second-degree murder and 16 counts of aggravated battery with a firearm in the 2014 shooting death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald. The killing sparked protests in Chicago and outrage across the country.
