What was their definition? Inquiring minds want to know.

There was this song way back about a little child missing time with their always working Father...and the child grew up to be "just like dad".
"Cat's In The Cradle"
My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you, Dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home, Dad
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home, Dad
I don't know when, but we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son
I don't know when, but we'll get together then, Dad
You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and the kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
When you comin' home son
I don't know when, but we'll get together then, Dad
We're gonna have a good time then

That's it, D. I know that song hit hard and touched a lot of Fathers. I think the particular familial dynamic of responsible fathers (and today's mothers as well) leaving to take care of whatever threatens the prosperity of their beloved children...is a very poignant thing. Truly sacrificial. One of my great hopes is that High Tech can free loving families to enjoy more quality time, and even "stop the world" and raise their perceptive experience to levels that many/most, do not even know exists. I think that may be the "Second Coming/Kingdom of Heaven on Earth".

Toxic Productivity

What I get by the phrase toxic productivity is that “I’m a slacker, and anyone who works harder than me makes me feel bad about myself. Instead of working harder, I’m going to label them something derogatory and go into my safe space.”
It’s also a way to brainwash the next generation so that they will think hard work is bad, so they don’t work and become dependent on the government.

I would define it as being a responsible adult member of society.

Did you ridicule the arse wipe that coined that term? I mean publicly ask them for a definition and tangible examples where harm was done! If not then you are part of the problem?

General thoughts:
I do feel that most folks have difficulty disconnecting from work and “doing”
Most folks would benefit by “doing” less and “being” more (hence human beings...)
Invoking as above, so below, use nature as a guide
There is a time/season for everything
Spring is a time of building up (rebirth)
Summer is the heat/fire of doing (growth)
Fall is the culmination of the hard work (harvest)
Winter is the time of rest (lay fallow)
The day mirrors the seasons
The morning is the spring (buildup/prep)
The midday/afternoon is the summer (work/accomplish)
The evening is the fall
The night is winter (sleep/rest)
Very important principles that have become lost in post Edison modern living...

Final analogy is:
Unchecked growth is cancer
Don’t become a cancer while your good intentions metastasize...
Kills the host
Halting growth occasionally is the key

"Toxic Productivity"
That's just about, no it may be, the most bizarre concept I've heard of in my entire put-together.
In what alternate reality is increased production of anything that benefits others, and productivity of industry, "toxic"?
And by the laws of equal and opposite reaction, non-productivity (idleness, laziness) must be nourishing and healthful.
Posted on 4/18/21 at 2:22 pm to Jbird
quote:We used to call that sort of thing by a different word.
Toxic productivity is essentially an unhealthy desire to be productive at all times, at all costs. It's the need to go the “extra mile” at work or at home, even when it's not expected of you. Toxic productivity doesn't even let up once the task is complete.

Maybe you can send them down a stray rabbit hole... Media is much the same way except even in the MSM and related areas people have to actually produce something.
