Here, you’ll be favorable to Biden. We’d like you just take a look and make sure all that money was on the up and up. Especially since we’ve found so many issues lately…

Guilty conscience or paid off?

The former is unlikely.

This is great!

When DOJ launches investigation of Covid scandals, hopefully we'll have similar ideological resignations.

WASHINGTON, Feb 18 (Reuters) - A senior federal prosecutor in Washington resigned on Tuesday, citing what she called an improper demand by appointees of President Donald Trump's administration to launch a criminal probe of a government contract awarded under former President Joe Biden.

Denise Cheung, who supervised criminal cases at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, said she had been ordered to open a probe into a contract that she did not identify and that she believed the request was not supported by evidence, in a letter reviewed by Reuters.

When she declined to launch a grand jury investigation citing a lack of evidence, she said she was ordered instead to pursue an asset seizure to prevent the recipient of the contract from drawing down the government funds.

"I have been proud to serve at the U.S. Department of Justice and this office for over 24 years," Cheung wrote in the letter to interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin. "During my tenure, which has spanned over many different administrations, I have always been guided by the oath I took ...to support and defend the Constitution."

Cheung said in her letter that at first, she was ordered to launch a grand jury investigation into whether the contract was unlawfully awarded during the Biden administration.

But after reviewing documentation provided by the Deputy Attorney General's office, she said that she and her colleagues determined that there was not sufficient evidence to justify a grand jury probe into crimes including wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States.

After she rebuffed the request for a criminal probe, Trump administration officials changed course and ordered her to pursue an asset freeze.

Cheung said she consulted with officials in the FBI Washington field office. Ultimately, she said, they decided to send the bank a letter "recommending a 30-day administrative freeze on certain assets."

After the letter was sent, she said Martin and the No. 2 official in the office called her Monday night to say the letter was not adequate, and they ordered her to immediately send a second letter to the bank demanding it freeze the assets as part of a criminal investigation.

"When I explained that the quantum of evidence did not support that action, you stated that you believed that there was sufficient evidence," she wrote.

"Based upon the evidence I have reviewed, I still do not believe there is sufficient evidence to issue the letter you described, including sufficient evidence to tell the bank there is probable cause to seize the particular accounts identified."

Cheung said in her letter she was ordered to resign. She announced her departure early Tuesday.

Isn’t there a word for what she was ordered to do?

If you resign over a question, I have to assume you are guilty of something malice.

I guess all of her cases need to be looked at now for signs of political bias, and she might need to be referred to the bar, then barred from federal buildings and maybe a prohibition on working with any law firm she may go to work for. Play lawfare and make it painful.

This is the way. Make them quit by giving lawful orders they refuse to follow. Don’t like the new management? Fine. frick off to some think tank that, oh by the way, isn’t getting funded by taxpayer dollars anymore.

Weatherization and other “green” initiatives were under Biden during the Obama era. Probably quite a few years of shite going on there.
