three cartoon cowboys sneering at a Mexican woman with a newspaper named "El Progreso"

Honoring Jovita Idar, whoever that is.

I’ve come to the conclusion that all Leftists think real life is literally Django Unchained.

NYT article says she was an activist that was pissed because American schools didn't teach Spanish as a language and taught American History instead of Spanish history.

Seems she was one of the first sky screamers.

When you’re in Texas look behind you, cause that’s where a Ranger’s gonna be.

That is a LOT of projection there, Cowboy.

You've got three guys (one of whom could easily be Mexican-American as well) sitting on horses to provide an historical context. I think you need to be LOOKING for "sneering" to find it. No reasonable person would do so.

But maybe they are intended to represent the Texas Rangers who trespassed upon her property and destroyed her printing press, because they did not like an article she had written. If that were the case, I would expect the characters to be wearing badges, which they are not.

Frankly, I am more offended by the left-most cowboy sitting fully a foot too far back on the horse's arse than by anything else in the image.

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina;
Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina,
Wicked and evil while casting a spell.
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden;
I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

And look how far we've come. Now we pay someone to translate from English to Spanish for illegals who have no desire to learn.

Texas Rangers are depicted here.
The Lone Ranger was a Texas Ranger.
A hero of the "Greatest Generation" officially cancelled.

BS. The brow is a clear indication of disapproval/anger. If they wanted to show a positive relationship, there are tons of ways.

And dark hair is not an attempt to show diversity. His beard was intentionally lightened to show he’s white.

You’re in denial brother.

They are Texas Rangers. They rode up to shut down the newspaper and she confronted them. They rode off and came back the next day when they successfully shut her down and she went on to establish another newspaper/journal.

Eta: I apparently didn't make it to the end of your post.

You DO know that El Paso is like 600 miles from Laredo, right? About the same distance as Baton Rouge to Gainesville.

Lol - she’d be happy now - I’m sure most speak Spanish in Laredo and is that the place where they also pledge allegiance to Mexico in the morning?? Or was that farther south in the rio grande valley?

Although, one must be skeptical when another says they’re ‘born’ in Laredo
