HERMITAGE, Tenn. (WATE) – The TSSAA is not allowing games, scrimmages or practices with close contact activities so long as Gov. Bill Lee’s executive order is in place.
Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association Executive Director Bernard Childress announced the decision Tuesday.
The sports directly affected are football, 7-on-7 football, girls soccer, wrestling and basketball.
Coronavirus in Tennessee: Gov. Lee extends State of Emergency to Aug. 29, 2020
Childress says that football and girls’ soccer cannot begin their seasons as originally scheduled.
There are options being developed for both sports for the TSSAA Board of Control to consider, and a decision will be made on how this will impact the postseason and if any adjustments can be made to regular season competition.
There was no word given on cross country events.
This is a developing story, we will update you as new information becomes available.

I have zero opinion on this either way.
But I will say that’s (sports practices, SAC) where many of the numbers in Texas are growing—at least out in the burbs.

Dumb.
Allow herd immunity to set in if hospitals are not overwhelmed.
The likelihood of getting a vaccine is very low. So lets go herd. Herd is natural immunity.

Great.
I’m rooting for no sports this fall.
Burn it all down.

The best thing a kid can do is be active and in shape - now many will sit at home and play video games and be more susceptible when School starts.

If you’re talking televised pro and college sports, I couldn’t agree more.
If you’re talking high school sports, I couldn’t agree less.

Why is number of cases the big data point for shutdown? Shouldn’t we be looking more at the hospitalization and mortality rates, compared to the number of active cases?
If the data tells us that the virus is relatively mild and only those individuals with severe underlying health conditions are at serious risk, why all the panic and shutdown?
What am I missing here?

My son has a very important baseball workout scheduled in early August in Texas(and no, it’s not one of those travel ball team things), that I’m afraid is gonna be cancelled for the second time...

Funny. I live in Franklin, TN and kids resumed baseball/soccer in the last couple of weeks, as in there are games being played already

Exercise is good for your immune system, it mobilizes your immune cells.

GOP governors have been just as bad or worse than Dems during this whole fiasco.

I will not watch any professional sports with all the kneeling, protesting, and political BS. Play the game. I don't need the rest of that crap. I don't care if there are any more professional sports at all this year. I am definitely not watching the BLMNBA!
I know high school sports probably wont allow that so I'll spend my time and money watching that.

Haven’t they been shut down since about 1998?
