The critique presented by the OP was that Walz was stingy and capricious in his allocation of funds, Which yielded catastrophic consequences.
You tried to make it about hypocrisy, but that only would fly if there was a small government conservative in the Gov mansion, which there isn’t.

The state doesn’t mandate that kids attend private schools. The state requires that kids are educated and provides a free and appropriate public education to satisfy that requirement. If someone declines the free education available to them and opts to pay for the private school of their choosing, they are also declining government provided security.
I attended private school pk-12 grade and I think I heard my mom complain about property taxes once in all those years.
