He is a short sighted idiot.

What would he want AOC or Bernie to do with these powers he wants the President to have??

Can you imagine if 30 years ago, Ma Bell cut your service off for espousing conservative beliefs over the phone?

See the rights aren't really rights, they are duties. Government vs Private Company isn't the bottom line.

If you choose not to vote, tyranny.
If no citizens have guns, tyranny.
If we don't fight for other people's ability to say "terrible, hateful, or even conservative" things, tyranny.

ETA: but fake arse conservatives like their Facebook too much to quit, and liberals are now tyrants.

Ask the liberals about the first amendment. Can a Baker ban sales of wedding cakes because their religion believes marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman?

Or maybe restaurants, hotels and landlords should be free to deny service/access to people of certain races, religions, etc. The "they are a private company" argument only goes os far.

We have already had such laws under the fairness doctrine of the FCC.

American Antitrust law will eventually sort all this out. Particularly with Google, Facebook and Twitter. It's inevitable that those who control a platform and who pick and choose the winners based on ideological preferences see their methods scrutinized.

That’s what so many people don’t get. They can’t mentally comprehend the comparison between a monopoly like Ma Bell and Facebook.

They think one was a necessity while the other is “just a social media platform quit using it.” Yes just a social media platform that helped us bypass the fake news and win an election. Now we are being silenced for the truth. Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube are colluding together to meddle in our elections.

What tolerant social media alternatives can be used get the truth out?

Facebook is no threat to conservative thought nor do they have a monopoly.

Yeah I don't see how these bannings violate the fairness doctrine. You aren't owed a platform by any of these companies. Your opinions aren't sacrosanct. No one cared that Marc Lamont Hill lost his platform because of things he said. That Pool cares about one type of deplatforming and not the other shows his bias.

The fairness doctrine was repealed. It gave politicians the power to decide on what opinions should be voiced and it was horrible.

You people that want the government involved in what Facebook allows on its site are foolish.

I don't. I'm making a point about Pool, who didn't care that Marc Lamont Hill was "deplatformed" from CNN, but does care about "conservative" commentators who were banned from Facebook.
