So, I'm watching one of my favorite news shows, France 24 on Link TV. It was from 2 weeks ago when there was a fire in the Amazon Rain Forest and Macron had a fit and the President of Brazil told him to STFU.
The news anchor explained that 1/5th of all the oxygen on the planet comes from the Amazon and that Macron pointed out in a statement that if the Amazon was destroyed there would be no oxygen on the earth.
Brazil should use this as leverage. 'Give us a billion dollars a year or we'll cut off your air.'

The MSM, and tinkerbells like Macron, would have the world believe that the entire Amazon basin was going up in smoke. It's only a small area of Brazil, and it's not prospectors or timber loggers, it's poor indigenous peoples who need the acreage to plant crops.

The vast, VAST majority of the oxygen in our atmosphere comes from the ocean (estimates on oxygen created by oceanic phytoplankton range from 50%-85% of Earth's atmospheric oxygen).
Not only that but much of what you see burning in Brazil is old growth. Old growth trees emit around the same amount of CO2 as they do oxygen (thus being its own offset). It's the younger growth plants that emit more oxygen than they do CO2.

So what are they going to do...corral that air and keep it for themselves?
Slaughter cows are going away; artificial meat is the future. Plant trees in those former cow production fields.
Krauthammer said that the next Generation will look back on us as barbaric heathen, for our meat consuming practices and production mechanisms. He's likely right. I'm planning on trying one of those new (synthesized blood) burgers asap.

not only does the Amazon NOT produce 20% of the world's oxygen, this is NOT a higher than average year for forest fires in the amazon.
Brazil which accounts for a small portion of the amazon is seeing a higher rate of forest fires, but over all the amazon this year is on pace with the average if not a little below.
