Three party system

We have a two party system (Dems and Repubs), I can't help but wonder how many of our problems are due to this fact. It seems like the two sides just keep moving farther apart and to the extremes.
Would it make a difference if we had a real 3rd party that could possibly take the middle ground and help ease some of the tension between the two sides?

Hopefully the left splits

Dems are about to become 2 parties.
It’s inevitable.
If not, it’s because moderate dems become Republicans.

The left will split and never win another election.
Obama set forth their destruction with the injection of his socialism.
His legacy.

We have a three party system. Republicans, Democrats, and abstainers. I much prefer this to the multi-party systems in other countries.

Multiple Parties is not better. You would have to have multiple parties to form a coalition and if you think about it we already have that now. Republicans have Neo-Cons, Libertarian leaning Republicans, and Conservatives. The Democrats have the Neo Libs, Progressives, and Socialist/Communists. Break all those factions up it will still be the same.

They would still form the same coalitions they do now.

That was my point.

I know. I was agreeing with you.

Where in our constitution does it say those are our two choices?

If anything the gop has moved a little to the left, while the left has moved way left

I never claimed that. I just mean currently those are the only viable options due to certain campaign restrictions. No other party can even make the final debates. If we had 3 or more fairly equal parties would the left be moving so far left without a moderate choice in between?
It just seems like a 2 party system is bound to result in migration to the extremes as they try to oppose each other

Says you. Take the red pill! Think for yourself.

Not screaming leftward at 200 miles an hour looks like "moving to the right" in comparison.
The current GOP might be to the left of JFK. It would be close.
Hell, it would agree a lot with Clinton, moreso that it did at the time.

We already have a 3 party system:
Americans for Trump
Republican Estblishment
Democrats
Its always been that way since Trump announced he was running, and that's why the media cant figure out Trump. Millions of hard working blue collar democrats left the party in support of Trump. He created a new party under the guise of the Republican name. Its why the GOPe hates him as much as the Democrats.

Our system discourages more than 2 parties.
But even the multiple parties of a parliamentary system are delusional since a coalition government must usually be formed and a coalition opposition naturally develops as a result. Our two parties are just coalitions before the election. The GOP is a coalition of conservatives, religious conservatives, and the rebellious libertarians. The Democrats are a coalition of liberals, race groups, homosexuals, feminists, anti Christians, and anti capitalist environmentalists, communist, and socialist.
A new party is likely to develop with the Democratic Socialist becomeing less tolerant in the DNC/MSM Political Complex! But, this is more likely to just drive their more moderate constituencies to the GOP or just to become a-political.
Generally the mythical 3rd party is just a delusion of libertarians who dislike to associate with the religious right. Even if they are joined by disillusioned antisocialist liberals they still have an irreconcilable view on the size and roll of government. There is no 3rd party here.

3 parties is not realistic with the electoral college system.

I bet somebody says this in between every presidential election alternating the words “left” and “right”.
