Thoughts on Hong Kong?

I understand the agreement in 97, but Hong Kong is part of China. Yes I hate it for the people of Hong Kong, but should we be getting involved? I don't want other countries telling us how we should run our Country and I have a hard time thinking we should be telling China how to run theirs.
Have several friends that have lived there and loved it. Just curious what everyone else's opinion is.

Hong Kong is telling both us and China how they want to run things.

If part or parts of this country wanted to break away from the United States, our government would engage in the mass murder of those separatists. The Chinese at least know they're ruled by an authoritarian regime. We've been brainwashed into thinking we're free.

The financial repercussions would be disastrous for the US and the world economy.

It reflects poorly on China, shows that it doesnt really matter what they say they are going to do, if its within their national interests, even if that involves fricking over other countries, they will do it.
I dont blame China for doing good for China, but they shouldnt make agreements with other countries and disrespect that agreement by ignoring everything in it.
China relies HEAVILY on exports and thus will rely on good relations with other countries. Its laughable they would shite talk the US about what the US says about China, all China does it lie, cheat, and steal from the rest of the world. Do they honestly think we're too stupid to not know what theyre really up to?

Yes, we should get involved. Hong Kong is one of the greatest cities in the world. It is mankind’s memorial to capitalism. They love America and freedom. Sorry, but we’re done with China’s bullshite after this. Make them the 51st state. It might be one of the cities that would be right wing after we save them from the CCP.

I think China released WuFlu so everyone would be distracted while they seized HK.

The American colonies are part of Great Britain. Sucks for the colonists, but oh well, there was paper work signed

One of the five great commercial cities on the planet, along with London, Paris, NYC and Tokyo, with the only skyline that can rival Manhattan.

Going to be covered in smog now. Was a good run while it lasted.

If the CCP passes this bill and if Hong Kong is forced into the CCP's one party system and if they lose their free speech and other liberties. The US by law, will be forced to impose economic sanctions on China. This law was passed last year by both of our houses, and signed by Trump. Looks like the CCP sees the writing on the wall. The only thing that was keeping a crack down from happening last year was the potential trade deal with the US. Apparently they realize this is not going to happen now and are making moves to quell the resistance in Hong Kong. I fear Hong Kong is lost. However, since the CCP clearly is in violation of her treaty, then this will kill any two party one government deal with Taiwan. And any China/Taiwan reunification will be by force at this point.

Sorry, Hong Kong’s skyline is better than NYC, which is really saying something. Looking towards that city from the mountaintops is something you’ll never forget.

HK is a lost cause. There isn't anything anyone can do about it. HK will be made an example of, used to intimidate Taiwan. No one is going to war with China to save HK, especially since foreign interests operating in HK are focused on appeasing Beijing in order to get at Chinese consumer cash.

HK is going to end up being treated like Zimbabwe under Mugabe.
CCP will take over everything and chase off the producers then wonders why they went from a net exporter to an importer.

There a drone video on youtube flying through Hong Kong. Seems like endless skyscrapers and high rise buildings.
