Australia ranks up there right behind Africa on the list of continents I sure as hell would want a firearm.

I saw a bunch of bolt actions and lever actions turned in. I thought you could still have those in Australia?

No kidding. Just about every animal over there is poisonous or deadly in some way.

I think you can with the proper permit and to get said permit I think you have to show a reasonable cause to need one. Mostly for hunters and people who live in the outback who need it to protect themselves

Of the guns classified as "assault weapons" in Australia" during the original ban, only 20% of the total believed to exist in the country were turned in. Citizens decided better to be law breakers than unarmed.

No. More than two decades and they still have no idea how many guns remain out there.

I'm gonna move to BR and start a boating safety school with an emphasis on properly securing cargo. There seems to be quite a market for it.

You think any criminals actually turned in their fund?

It's probably a bunch of people with old guns around the house, unused, etc, who decided it wasn't worth the hassle to evade detection.

No criminals turned in their guns, LOL.

Pretty much the only guns that get turned in at any buy-back; the ones least likely to be used in crimes.

Also, Australian gun-control loons had a meltdown over the potential of a lever-action shotgun being sold there recently.

Australia hasn't had a Mass shooting in more than 21 years. I've lived there, it's one of the safest and peaceful nations in the world.

They basically never had one before.

Outside of the one that started the gun ban.

That explains why Chicago, the city with the strictest gun laws, has almost no gun violence huh?
