blew up.

A Somali-American police officer inexplicably shoots dead an unarmed white Australian woman - but strangely, no talk of racist police this time on the ABC.

I mean it's like it had nothing to do with race, could you fuvkin imagine that. The media needs to be shut down until there's people we elect to prof read and edit every major news story that comes out.

Im not saying the media needs to be screaming racism in this instance but that's my point. Unfortunately terrible shite like this happens to all races.

As long as the media give these race baiting dumbass people a platform shite will only get worse with race relations.

Electing a group of media monitoring people could be a solution?

Not only was it a tragic police shooting, the shooter was a black immigrant. The media won't touch this.

I don't think a monitoring group is necessary. That's actually a little scary. Who regulates that group? I think for the first time in a long time, we the people are beginning to receive and process our news as skeptics. That's a great thing and needs to continue.

No. You're stupid, and this mindset is dangerous.

Why are there so many somali migrants in Minneapolis of all places, anyway? It's such a random major city to migrate to from the semiarid african nation. Yes it is a major city but it is in the cold upper midwes, not close to any ports of entry, historically.

Shouldn't most somali migrants be somewhere like new York or other major eastern cities?

If we elect people to approve the media that just means if these people we get to elect feel the story is trying to promote unhealthy relations with the public maybe that particular writer is canned or maybe the whole network. I promise things would change and only FACTS would be reported.

I'm honestly baffled by the situation, having nothing to do with media coverage or anything related to BLM, white or black racism, or anything at all political.

What on Earth happened there, that a woman who called to report a possible sexual assault was shot? I can't imagine anything other than gross incompetence on the part of the officer, but even then, it's so bizarre that the incompetence has to be worse than gross.

I do have a better idea. Free press.

And of course it isn't being viewed as racist. Is there any indication, at all, that the cop was racist? No. There's only a strong indication that he sucks at his job.

Pretty sure they already do a great deal of this, mostly by a highly slanted group with a narrative

See above.

Off and on. It's usually playing in the background while I work, and I watch when it's interesting and do something else when it's not.

Yes, probably.

Calm down. I shouldn't have called you stupid.

Let's talk; I know that's difficult because we're clearly so far apart, but let's give it a go.

A white person being shot by a black cop, in my mind, does not immediately signify racism on the part of the black cop.

A black person being shot by a white cop, in my mind, does not immediately signify racism on the part of the white cop.

Cops have to shoot people. It's a tragic part of their job, and often leads to mental health issues. Very few people, even good people doing their jobs, are comfortable with the idea that they've killed someone, even if it was justified.

I do think that a black person being shot by a cop under the same circumstances would be more likely to be racism. We can get into why, but it has to do with very simple, and very deep societal and racial prejudices. This applies to cops of every race.

The better idea is what is has always been. Cut the T.V. off. No ratings= no revenue stream= that timeslot being filled with reruns on (insert syndicated show here)
The media is given its power by you the consumer. You want to be that old guy yelling at the TV, that's why you watch the shite. So cable companies give you 15 channels of the same shite to yell at all day long.
If you are bitching about what spin cnn/nbc/cbs/fox has on there stories, just remember you are consuming their product whether or not you agree is not their problem.
There are so many more avenues of finding neutral facts and the full context of a story than clicking the channel button on your remote. (as much context as can be gained without actually being there anyways)

I agree it is a tough job and we need better cop training for sure and more cop monitoring

But the media unfortunately does not have your mind and it's sad how they have freedom these days to say whatever the frick they want and get away with it.

Free press is ok, but we are "free" to as Americans but we still can't run around doing whatever we feel like gives us the most power in life.
