I don’t know if it qualifies as an echo chamber or not, but there are definitely people here who automatically dismiss and downvote any real criticism of Donald Trump. I don’t think anyone should be above criticism. Even though I will 100% vote for him, there are things that Trump can be fairly criticized on, but some here won’t accept that.

I think this boils down to what the definition of an echo chamber is. I have been one of the more enthusiastic critics of Trump, albeit from his Right - and it has never come across to me like my opinions can't be posted. That's my definition of an echo chamber ... wrong-think is simply not allowed.

Getting called names or the downvoting thing doesn't bother me. Think about how f'n boring this place would be if all we did was sit around and agree with each other.

An ignore button would do wonders for the discourse here in my opinion.

I doubt there are any dem plants getting paid to post here but yes the Biden admin/harris campaign have supposedly paid social media influencers thousands of dollars a month. It’s really no different than affiliate marketing when people have x amount of followers where they can push a product , instead they have people spewing misinformation and attacking the opposition.

I kind of figured this. For one thing - based on their ability to argue their political positions, if someone is paying the Dems on this board, they are getting robbed.

I wish more people on the left would actually attempt to engage in discussion on their policies.

It’s weird what a rare occurrence that is, and from a lot of the folks screeching ‘muh Echochamber!’

During the R primary, anyone not supporting Trump was ridiculed and called all kinds of names. But no one was banned for not slurping Trump at that time.

It’s not an echo chamber.

Sane liberals not supporting radical views would be awesome here.

Instead we get BamaATL and tarzana and VOR.

I've thought that, too. But I bet if we had one, I'd hardly use it. Maybe in a thread where there's an actual discussion taking place, it would be nice to filter the nonsense.

Conservatives couldn’t stay in an echo chamber if they tried. Not unless you can manage to avoid the corporate press or ingest any pop culture. You’d pretty much have to live off the grid.

This board being majority right doesn’t make it an echo chamber. There’s still many left wing posters.

I don’t need a button to ignore useless posters.

The list would be small and fluid.

During the primary it would have been useful to actually discuss it.

After the event I could see shortening the list.

A lot of BS would have never been seen.

I would probably not use it much but it might clean up some the threads that are dominated by whichever contrarian is hated more that month.

"This place is an echo chamber." really just means "my opinions are outnumbered :(".

An echo chamber wouldn't allow dissenting opinion. It's really that simple. There have been plenty of examples of actual echo chambers posted already. Getting downvoted on this site doesn't lower the visibility of your posts at all like it does on other sites. It's just a slap to the ego that they can't handle.

the echoes of “cuck”. and “groomer” directed to any mildly dissenting voice suggest the traits of an echo chamber as well as a diminished vocabulary.

I think this is more that you're not well-suited for this type of platform. Online discussion boards are an uncomfortable place for those with thin skins and are easily moved by words typed out by some anonymous person. Doesn't matter if it's politics, sports, whatever.

It is an echo chamber, but it is not a forcibly exclusive echo chamber. Most liberals don't post here because they get eaten alive in the arena of ideas, as Rush liked to call it. Not because the admin tries to remove dissent.
