This is just a face saving excuse for people like Nate Silver, who have suddenly realized they were supporting the baddies all this time. This isn’t the reason he’s coming over to the good side; it’s just the excuse.

Joe didnt have any choice. He said that in June when his bullshite deal was in place for Hunter for 2 misdemeanors. A few months later, in August, the judge over the case called out that bullshite deal. The DOJ then distanced themselves.
There was no other way except this. Everyone knew that Joe would pull the trigger on this.

Gowdy had a good point on this....there is pre-sentencing discovery or deliberations that could open Hunter and Joe to further criminal liability if something else were to come out.
Joe had to do it now.
