Around Halloween I ran into two girls in a grocery store that used their thong underwear as masks. They even had them bedazzled.

I'm going to send in my design. It's a soft rubber pull on mask that covers your whole head, and it looks like Joe Biden with a mask on, it will come with a full flesh colored body suit with a diaper on. Suitable for Halloween. Both mask and diaper will have the presidential seal.

I hope this isn't true about GMA. If it is, they don't have a real scientist within a hundred miles of that set.
If masks were in fact effective for controlling influenza during the same period that the winter surge for COVID occurred, it would all but prove (nothing in science is proven) that masks are ineffective at controlling COVID. Flu is the positive control in the experiment.
That said, it's my understanding that CDC stopped tracking flu to devote resources to COVID. So I think those low flu numbers are a reporting artifact

If there was a significantly better mask design, wouldn’t the marketplace have figured it out in the past year? It wouldn’t take a contest to make it happen.
