Things I'd Like To See Jeff Landry Do Instead Of 10 Commandments In Schools

Just noticed on Fox that Sarah Huckabee Sanders is trying to repeal her state's income tax.
How novel. Things that can save her constituents money.
Jeff Landry: Sorry. Best I can do is shite that the ACLU will immediately sue me for... and win, assault the state's burgeoning weed industry, and not do anything to the personal injury attorney lobby.

Who do you trust to handle your money: the government or yourself? Personally, I think you handle your money better than politicians ever could.
That's why I entered office promising to responsibly phase out our state income tax. That's why I’ve already worked with our legislature to cut taxes twice during my first year in office, returning more than $300 million to taxpayers.
And that’s why I called a special session of the Arkansas legislature this week to cut taxes again. Republicans and Democrats came together to shave $384 million off our personal income tax and nearly $100 million off our corporate income tax, putting nearly half a billion dollars back where it belongs: with the people of Arkansas.
1.1 million Arkansans will benefit from these tax cuts — the majority of taxpayers in our state.
Imagine a husband and wife who are just starting out as public school teachers. Thanks to Arkansas LEARNS, their starting salaries are now $50,000 each. And thanks to the three tax cuts I’ve signed, they will now take home $954 more of their paychecks each year. That’s extra money for rent, a car payment, or their grocery bills — more money for them, and more money in our economy stimulating growth.

quote:Yep. The biggest thing is the vetoes of any tort reform. LA will never have any kind of blossoming economy as long as parasite lawyers are enabled to suck the blood out of everything in sight.

The only conservative things he does are meaningless bones he throws to religious people and other social conservatives. But, it's a song and dance that the national republicans have been doing for decades, so he's really just following the script.

Wait a minute! Are you trying to tell me banning the sale of whippets isn't going to bring LA's economy/business climate out of the shitter? No that the opportunity to get high for 4 seconds is off the table, those folks can now refocus on work and develop the high-tech industries LA is primed to grow.
If you knew anything about Landry you knew this was EXACTLY how he would govern. A lot of red meat virtue signaling, but relatively little to improve the state's economy as the rest of the south starts to distance itself from LA.
Best case scenario is he serves as a bridge from JBE to a competent Republican governor

You do realize the most recent session was not a fiscal session, right? And on income tax repeal, did you happen to notice what the guy who he appointed as Secretary of LDR had as a key campaign initiative before dropping out of the race?

You do understand that the La house passed this bill, he simply signed it, right?!?!

Sooooo, constitutional carry, setting up the troop NOLA task force, has that not happened in your view? Give him time!

And now you get to pay that $954 in higher property taxes! Which ok whatever, but the idea that this saves money is laughable.

While I agree with a lot of the flack Landry is getting, this is a good point.
I think tax reform could be Landry's saving grace IF he lets Nelson prepare the plan and does not worry about how people might be offended that they are losing whatever special tax credit they want to protect.
I am looking forward to Nelson's plan.

You are wrong, NOLA is the biggest economy in our state, with the amount of violence that has been happening in NOLA, we have lost significant revenue. With the threat of loosing future tourism opportunities. So it absolutely has to be reined in, and that is economically sound government!

Hmmm, the thread is about the 10 commandments, your response was about getting sued by the ACLU. So what is your question exactly?
Posted on 6/21/24 at 2:03 pm to Giantkiller
At least we got constitutional carry

If the best that Louisiana can hope for is revenue generated from tourism in New Orleans (and not actual job creation or companies choosing to move or start their business operations in this state), then the economic outlook for this state is always going to remain in the shitter.

Louisiana would never be able to do that successfully.

I understand what you are saying, I’d I’d think you can admit that the changes you are referring to take time, this is low hanging fruit that will impact our economy immediately

High crime is bad for economies.

Are new folks and businesses going to move to bunkie?
Or are they going to go to New Orleans and Baton Rouge?
