I have a friend I have met through work. He is probably 40, lived in Cali all his life, went to a UC school. Very nice guy, practical, smart and not an outspoken sort of dude.
He says he hates a lot of California (talked about SF specifically), because of all the crazy causes and stands that apprently gain so much traction there. Basically says they are constantly getting in their own way to support things that affect a small amount of people.
I'm not sure if he is actually conservative or how he votes, but I think this anecdotal example supports that not all people in Cali are nuts, and are very aware that they are surrounded by people that are.

This makes no sense.
In 2016, only 30% of tax filers itemized (45 million out of 150 million total returns).
That means 105 million returns used the standard deduction. This bill doubles the standard deduction and child tax credit.
There isn't a scenario in this bill where every single one of those 105 million returns using the standard decuction doesn't save money and pay less taxes.
In addition, of the 45 million who itemized, at least 30 million of those will now switch to using the doubled standard deduction over itemizing because they too will save money.
This means at a the bare minimum, 135 million of 150 million tax filers will save money and pay less taxes than previously.
Over 110 million of those 135 million who save will average between $1,200 and $3,600 in savings.
And none of this even includes the fact that filers who met a 0% tax liability will also get an increased refund on their child tax credits.
How in the hell can you or Krugman tell us that a hundred million people/families having on average $100-$300 extra dollars per month is going to bode bad for Republicans and be a "nightmare" for the middle class? That's beyond retarded and very obviously partisan hyperbole and bullshite lies.

Omg its people like you who are ruining this country...Get your head out of the sand...LOWER YOUR TAXES WILL NOT HURT THE MIDDLE CLASS..RAISING TAXES WILL HURT MIDDLE CLASS..QUIT HATEING MORE MONEY IN YOUR POCKET!! STOP LISTENING TO LIBERALS AND OPEN YOUR EYES!! JESUS!!

Matthew Dowd (a former REPUBLICAN strategist) correctly attributed Roy Moore's recent defeat not on any sexual allegations, or even Moore himself, but on Donald Trump and his policies.
The only one more wrong than Matthew Dowd, is you if you believe he is correct.
After the Moore scandal became public knowledge, Alabamians did not want either one. We were given a choice between crooked Luther, Teen-lover Moore, and Abortion loving, Hillary supporting Jones. Donald J. Trump is very well admired and liked in this state. His policies had nothing to do with Jones' election victory.

1- the people of NY and CA to move.... that means liberals invade red states with the same stupid voting habits.
This is overblown...the rise in the standard deduction will nearly zero out the elimination of state/local tax deductions for most.

This. I know myself and a couple of others are looking at different places to move. That and people are actually starting to pay attention to the political shananigans out here, such as charging a fee instead of raising property tax as one has to go in a ballot and the other doesn’t.

Based on what appears to be the final version of the bill, can you point to what is so wrong with it that its a deal breaker?
There are plenty of articles that point to lowering the corp tax rate so much... which is obserd. We need to be competitive and being north of 35% is the opposite...
Some point to a possible deficit increase, but fail to mention The 1.4 Trillion added between 2015 and 2016...
I have trouble figuring out what is so wrong with it other than it's sailed under the Republican flag. Some are so at odds with Republicans that if they came out in favor of oxygen they would suffocate themselves...

Yeah, Krugman is a fraud. When he’s wrong, and he always is, it’s because we didn’t throw enough money at the problem. He’s the worst of the worst, a real Gruber- like figure...
