I don't understand why they can't just say hey the vaccine isn't perfect, but if you are at risk at all it's a good place to start. Talk to your doctor about risk factors for you and those who you come in regular contact with.
This is the right way. I'm not sure why the down votes.

Because the vaccine isn’t nearly as effective against the variant.
And we’re back to the point in the OP.
Combo of that plus since January infected migrants have poured through the southern border like flies on shite. I’m holding out hope for peaceful Balkanization at this point.

please teach me the ways of common core math oh great one
a famous guy once said
"First, we've got population. The world today has 6.8 billion people. That's headed up to about nine billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by, perhaps, 10 or 15 percent. But there, we see an increase of about 1.3. "

Israel and parts of Europe are and the results are staggeringly in favor of naturally acquired immunity.
Strange that the WHO and FDA have no interest in looking into this easily tracked metric when every disease in human history has shown that natural immunity is superior to vaccination for disease response and diversity of protection against various strains.

Pretty accurate. Basically, this is a personal health decision at this point. Exactly the wrong time to try to mandate a vaccine on everyone.
The problem is that you're only looking at this in terms of just Covid. If unvaccinated people are taking up hospital resources, then it's affecting people outside of the scope of Covid, which is a problem.
Like this story
If this story is true, there are unvaccinated people who bear responsibility for his non-Covid death.

This gives many people a nervous feeling. Why not admit the vaccine is highly limited? Why push the vaccine, and only the vaccine, with so much zealotry? Why not promote effective treatments already under EAU, and explore treatments being used with great success in other countries? Why is natural immunity being completely disregarded? Why is critical data being blocked? Why are certain treatments being blocked? Why are they lying about how covid impacts children?
These are natural questions that get ignored. The lack of answers is why people are skeptical of a government they already can’t trust.

Then why are liberals telling us that we should deny healthcare to the unvaxxed in order to preserve hospital beds for the vaxed? This is a political narrative fueled largely by old data. We are in the midst of a natural case spike and many of these hospitalizations are being fueled by delta fear porn.
If hospitals survived last fall, with field hospitals and overflow facilities lying largely unused; how are hospitals unable to handle a smaller spike? Is it because they ran off all of their healthcare workers with jab requirements?

quote:No sir. Sorry. First off, there is no indication the transfer from Cullman would not have been necessary anyway. So, under normal circumstances he'd have traveled by ambulance from Cullman to B'ham. Instead, with UAB claiming to be full, he traveled by air to Meridian. Probably a similar transit time.
If this story is true, there are unvaccinated people who bear responsibility for his non-Covid death.
But this ICU availability story repeats itself over and over and over again. Hosp CEOs/Administrators close down beds, lay off medical staff, rob Peter to pay Paul, and reap short-term profits which all translate to great bonuses for them.
When they get caught with an inexcusable dearth of resources to deal with a widely predicted CV19 surge, do they accept blame? Nope. They blame the public. They blame staff shortages on vax refusal. They lie through their teeth about actual culpability.
Better yet, they payoff an MD like Catherine O'Neal to cease caring for patients, and to instead cover their butts. They've had a year and a half to figure surge contingencies out. They need to do their damn jobs!

My mistake, I misread what you had typed. I thought you were trying to say those with natural immunity were having more breakthroughs than the vaccinated.

Would you just stop. You sound like an idiot. The N95 mask cannot be used when you do Asbestos remediation. Says it right on the package. Do your self a favor and conduct a google search of virus particle size. Then look up asbestos particle size. If the mask can't stop asbestos how will it stop a virus. Then read the Emperor's New Cloths. People really have to wake the F up.

Pretty accurate. Basically, this is a personal health decision at this point. Exactly the wrong time to try to mandate a vaccine on everyone.
Agree 100%. I am vaccinated, and I am 1,000,000% against mandated vaccinations. I've said umpteen times...Alabama is the least vaccinated state in the US. I'll be at Bryant-Denny Stadium in November for Alabama-LSU with 100,000 other people. Many will no doubt be unvaccinated. If 30,000 catch covid at the game and drop dead within the next month, why do I care? Personal choice.
As an aside...here's the dumbest thing of all. After taking office, Biden almost immediately mandated that everyone flying into the US have a negative covid test...regardless of vaccination status. So here's the question...
If every single person on the plane had to show a test result saying they are negative for covid before they got on the plane, why do people have to wear masks on the plane? I'd like for someone to explain the science behind that.

If the vaccine remained 95% effective against the variant, there wouldn’t be many adults for the virus to spread through. And we’re back to OP.
We’re approaching 75% of adults being vaccinated.

Slight amendment.

CDC has studied it, and says you are twice as likely to get infected if you have natural immunity vs. getting the vaccine. They reccomend the vaccine even if you have antibodies from a prior infection.
CDC website
But you don't trust the CDC because they don't agree with you.
BTW, the FDA will not research this because it's not their job.

because if the jab is not sold as the end all solution, then they will lose the control that they have gained.

1. Delta is much more contagious than 1.0
They do not determine your variant with the testing the vast majority of people are receiving so this requires various assumptions to be made
quote:
2. Folks aren’t doing as much to stop the spread
177 million folks are literally vaccinated, with 200 million having at least one injection which wasn't even an option this time last year. Florida was pretty much back in full swing by Aug last year, yet saw similar numbers to other large populous states with strict lockdown measures. Are you implying masks > vaccines when it comes to efficacy? We know the masks that aren't N95s have a near-insignificant effect on reducing the spread so that would be concerning considering the mandates.
quote:
3. Asymptomatic vaccinated folks are spreading it
Too many questions to draw conclusions from this statement. This wasn't an issue in 2020? How many asymptomatic folks exist? If delta is more contagious or more severe as it's being implied, wouldn't this mean more people get symptoms than in 2020 and therefore the number of asymptomatic people has dropped?
quote:
4. Vaccinated folks are overwhelmingly avoiding hospitalization and death relative to unvaccinated
Too much missing data to draw a conclusion from this statement. Vaccinated folks have no way of determining if their immunity is from the vaccine or prior infection (they don't have a standardized test for this, and they don't even both testing for antibodies before your first injection). Getting your injections resets your covid timeline, meaning your covid history essentially starts over at the time of your "fully vaccinated" status (10-14 days post 2nd shot).

Do YOURself a favor, and Google human aerosol particle size. The virus organisms do not fly through the air on their own. They are exhaled and travel on water droplets that an N95,as well as many cloth masks can stop.
Plus, the primary purpose of a mask is to stop the wearer from infecting others. And the droplets you exhale are generslly much larger than the ones you may inhale.
I can't believe we are still having these discussions after 18 months of this shite.
However, most people are not using their masks effectively. N95 masks should be discarded daily. Cloth masks should be washed daily. You should probably also wear goggles.
Masks are far from perfect, but they are one tool we can use to reduce spread.

Somehow I doubt thats true. But if it is, why don't we all just go get polio, smallpox, measles, etc., and stop worrying about vaccines and booster shots!
