Left-Wing Labour Gov’t Defends Sharia Courts in Britain, Backs Broad ‘Islamophobia’ Definition
The Labour Party government has argued that allowing Sharia courts to operate in the United Kingdom is a fundamental “British value” and has refused to distance itself from a broad stroke definition of so-called Islamophobia, which critics say would brand discussions around Muslim child rape grooming gangs as potentially illegally racist.
Pressed on Tuesday in the House of Commons by Reform UK’s Sarah Pochin as to whether the government supported the existence of Sharia courts in the UK, Minister of State for Courts and Legal Services, Sarah Sackman, unequivocally backed their right to operate.
The Labour MP for Finchley and Golders Green said: “Sharia law forms no part of the law of England and Wales but in common with Christian, Jewish, and other courts of faith where people choose to put themselves before those councils, that’s part of the religious tolerance that is an important British value.”

Good. Let them go down in the history books. It’s an important lesson.

It’s optional?
Who would go before an optional court?
Sounds like England is saying “you can play pretend church court if you want”.
The first time someone is dragged in, let’s see if British law defends them.

It's hard to believe that, that same country had an Empire less than a century ago. They should be a cautionary tale to the US, on how quickly weak leaders can bring down a world power.

The Establishment Clause in the 1st Amendment does not allow any law to be based on religious writings or traditions. This was one of the most debated parts of the Bill of Rights. It was something Thomas Jefferson would not budge on.

It’s not like we don’t have Sharia Tribunals & Chinese Ministry of Public Security forces in the USA.
Not sure if it’s naivety or ignorance but we are way worse off here in the US than UK.

hard to believe that the leaders in most of europe are completely selling out their own people.

The problem with them gaining control is that while not as strong as ours, Britain has a decent military and nukes.

That's my question as well.
Is it like deciding to go in front of Judge Judy instead of a government court?

They will blame the far right for their downfall. They always pass off the blame for everything they screw up.

It started off being a religious law, but when it was argued in front of the Supreme Court it was argued as secular justification(morality)

Maybe they'll at least be smart enough to dismantle their arsenal before the Neanderthals taken over like the white people in South Africa did...

How can anyone of sane mind in the UK support the Labour Party?
