The UK's Secret Intelligence Service, otherwise known as MI6, has been scrambling to prevent President Trump from publishing classified materials linked to the Russian election meddling investigation, according to The Telegraph, stating that any disclosure would "undermine intelligence gathering if he releases pages of an FBI application to wiretap one of his former campaign advisers."
Trump's allies, however, are fighting back - demanding transparency and suggesting that the UK wouldn't want the documents withheld unless it had something to hide. The Telegraph has talked to more than a dozen UK and US officials, including in American intelligence, who have revealed details about the row. British spy chiefs have “genuine concern” about sources being exposed if classified parts of the wiretap request were made public, according to figures familiar with discussions. “It boils down to the exposure of people”, said one US intelligence official, adding: “We don’t want to reveal sources and methods.” US intelligence shares the concerns of the UK. Another said Britain feared setting a dangerous “precedent” which could make people less likely to share information, knowing that it could one day become public. -The Telegraph

Trump walked that order back days later after the UK begged him not to release them. Mr Trump wants to declassify 21 pages from one of the applications. He announced the move in September, then backtracked, then this month said he was "very seriously" considering it again. Both Britain and Australia are understood to be opposing the move. Memos detailing alleged ties between Mr Trump and Russia compiled by Christopher Steele, a former MI6 officer, were cited in the application, which could explain some of the British concern. -The Telegraph

I truly believe Trump is holding all evidence for leverage throughout his Presidency. Having Dems in charge of the house will work to his favor in 2020. He could have shocked the world but is holding his aces close. Hope it pays off but I want to bury those frickers.

If history is written by the victors, government surveillance agencies will have an awfully long list of sources to cite.
Domestic digital surveillance has often seemed to be a threat endured mostly by the social media generation, but details have continued to emerge that remind us of decades of sophisticated, automated spying from the NSA and others.
Before the government was peering through our webcams, tracking our steps through GPS, feeling every keystroke we typed and listening and watching as we built up complex datasets of our entire personhood online, there was still rudimentary data to be collected. Over the last fifty years, Project ECHELON has given the UK and United States (as well as other members of the Five Eyes) the capacity to track enemies and allies alike within and outside their states. The scope has evolved in that time period from keyword lifts in intercepted faxes to its current all-encompassing data harvesting.

In a piece published today in The Intercept, life-long privacy advocate Duncan Campbell describes his past few decades tracking down the elusive Project ECHELON, “the first-ever automated global mass surveillance system.

Of course they don't want it released, the countries assist each other to spy on citizens. A nice convenient way to circumvent laws.

Well too fricking bad. Don't illegally spy on a Presidential campaign. Beg

They don't want it becoming known that Mifsud was in fact an MI6 asset. That much is clear - we don't even need the docs to know that. Mifsud is good buddies with Claire Smith, one of Britain's top intelligence chiefs. They've been photographed together. So either Mifsud is one helluva Russian agent, or he is MI6.

They committed an act of war

The 5 Eyes alliance of intelligence agencies (Canada, Australia, UK, NZ, USA) all conspired to spy on Donald Trump and either wreck his campaign or blackmail him into being a globalist.
Admiral Rodgers at the NSA saw and stopped this and hopefully they are taking counter measures behind the scenes but yes - this is an act of war on the American people
and to all the NSA Myers reading this - yes I am pissed off

Then they should come clean and admit this entire Russia thing was a hoax hatched by the Clinton campaign to keep Trump from winning the election.

They voted to leave the EU. Their government is keeping them there. Liberation is in order.

Well yea.
We wouldn’t want to expose the individuals that should be charged with criminal activity and should go to jail.

Honestly, I’m afraid they may end up killing him.
ETA: “They” not exclusively being the Brits, but all of these people as a whole, over there and over here.

We have laws in place to stop our government from needlessly spying on Americans, so the Obama administration used a friendly to do the spying instead, and now we are supposed to worry about exposing their secrets?
F- them and F-Obama.
